I loved it but… Grim Dawn needs more diversity in shapes and styles of armor. Almost all the late game sets are armors with those dresses/long “coats” covering their legs.
Grim Dawn is a post apocalyptic game in its core, that it’s identity, but the sets (and art direction, really) don’t reflect that in any way, just at the beginning of the game. C’mon direction and art direction, you are turning this into a fantasy game (The Forgotten Gods expansion’s setting was something you can find in any fantasy game… For me was a huge let down from the “dramatic universe” that you have already created), you are stepping away from the identity of your own creation, and I’m afraid this new expansion would continue that same route.
And btw, I say this as someone who believes that Grim Dawn is the best ARPG out there. But you are turning it into another dark fantasy game, like fucking Diablo, POE or even Last Epoch…
Wow, Jarldin makes you basically into Odin. So there are helmets that give you a beard, too? (I wonder how the set looks on a female model)
Yikes on respawning Nemeses. I am already getting tired of battling Kubacabra in pretty much every game session, often in rather inconvenient places like narrow caves… Though since now Beasts will have more than one Nemeses, I suppose there will be some variety.
I am curious what the Dread is, likely something related to Yugol? Lots of tentacles? And would be interesting to know how powerful it will be… hopefully not Crate of Entertainment or Clone of John Bourbon levels of very hard to kill.
Kinda hard to make out the new Nemesis… has a lot of horns, for sure, and is poison enchanted, and uses a big energy poison/acid spear. And… also has a baseball glove for a face?
Not really. You start out in a post apocalyptic environment, but as you proceed you find more and more resources and better armed survivors. Cairn is a big place, and neither the Aetherials nor the Ch’thonians managed to get a foothold everywhere. To me it is a very nice evolutionary curve that you start out with scrap armor, shields made out of oven doors and axes made out of saws, and then you replace that with the armor of the better equipped Black Legion, Malmouth Resistance and Witch god cults.
The sets are great, beards for female characters are ridiculous, and of course there needs to be a difference for this. Armors and outfits have been a theme that has been widely discussed here for a long time. In my humble opinion, I support the differentiation in outfits, not all the same for every gender. If it were possible, what would solve some things would be the option for character animation before the game, options for beard, hair, skin color; it wouldn’t solve everything, but it would be a good start.
Most likely the new Celestial boss. Seems to have a spawn mechanic that is similar to that of the Nemesis bosses. Except, it’s not tied to a specific faction.
Also, in the “Ascension” Grim Adventure, there’s an animation that shows that you can give Celestial Essence to the altar to increase the rate of Dread spawns, so I think it’s 99% certain to be a new celestial.
Jarldin set is fire. Will be fun to repeatedly slam Leaps. Maybe it can even rival my 0.5s cd Vire charger for quick content cleaning. Or maybe not, since the stacked volcanic trail does quite a bit of damage. Eh we’ll see.
6 weeks till another misadventure? sus… you’re not planning to announce the release date in the middle of that timeframe, do you.
