[Mod] Reign of Terror

I got Horadric Cube but I noticed it got only 1 items that gives % Lightning Damage (which I need for Lighning Sentry). Whereas there are tons of %physical damage. Why such a disproportion in damage types for Horadric crafting?

@elvenroth could you please check whether Lightning Sentry (assassin skill) is affected by the player’s casting speed or it’s fire rate is fixed? Thanks.

There’s Doomed Remains in Forgotten Reliquary. It can be targeted but not clicked. What is it for?

Player scaled pets never scale on player speed, this is a basic GD mechanic that cannot be changed.

Yes, the only stats player scaled pets utilize are the players own OA and % Damage modifiers, anything else like resistances, attack/cast speed, HP, etc are not used.

Is Pierce (the Amazon skill) bugged? I’m using it with Plague Javelin, I should have a ~35% pierce chance currently and I haven’t seen it pierce once yet. I paused my quest progression to test it specifically for the last 30 minutes or so by gathering bigger packs and chucking javelins at them, I never see more than one poison cloud proc. at a time and it’s always centered on the first monster in line. I also never see the javelin graphic pass through a given monster.

edit: Bumped my pierce chance to 42%, did another few dozen test throws… again, never passes the first monster in line.

Pierce can proc only with default ranged weapon attack. Javelin isnt ranged weapon.

WOW! Amazing work and this is true D2 remake, keep it alive bro! Ive tried using a GD Defiler to change the class and lost all the waypoints, will stick to paladin zealot fana without a 2nd class for a while but the only drawback is that fanatism gives phys damage bonuses so I have to stick only to phys or try and convert all phys to other elems, thank you man for the hard work.!

Cheers, you could have easily prevent losing waypoints from the character if you read at least the first few lines in my RoT post at the top. This is what you would find there:

Causes of common issues while playing the mod:

  • Incompatible RoT or GD version (make sure to always use the latest GD: Forgotten Gods and RoT version)
  • Incorrectly extracted mod files (follow the “Instal” guide below)
  • Loading different game mod (base GD campaign, Crucible or another mod) before RoT
  • Using GD translations
    * Using incompatible 3rd party tools (example: GD Defiler will remove all discovered waypoints from RoT characters after editing)

GD Stash will let you reset classes without losing waypoints.

Pierce only proccing on default bow attacks seems like a pretty big oversight, since that’s not at all how the skill functioned in D2 and the javelin skills would’ve been universally terrible there without piercing. Secondly, javelins functionally aren’t melee weapons either currently, so that makes the item type as a whole feel a bit like the worst of both worlds.

GD defilier still works like a charm too.

It’s impossible to add a generic pierce through passive that will apply to all projectile attacks.

Just curious but i have installed the mod with the RoT Launcher and doing it the regular way with the stand alone client, but no matter what i do i can’t get the mod to work. Can anyone help me out ? thanks.

this is ur mod man and i take my hat off to you, these are just my opinions and obviously ur gonna do what u want, ur gonna do what fulfils the reason you made the mod, what you set out to achieve, all good, massive props.

ive read in the thread at various points the plan is to get all the D2 stuff right and then remove the GD content. imo that would be a shame and missing a trick with it. i feel like u cant fully replicate diablo 2, so it will never be THE diablo 2 ‘remastered’ if you like. However, what u have here already is actually way more fun to play than diablo 2 or grim dawn, i feel like it already exceeds both the games we have in play here currently.

i dont say that lightly, i got diablo 1 when it first came out, im 38, ive been playing rpgs and top down action games since the amiga 500, since 386 pcs. i got diablo 2 on release, d3 (lol) which is a mixed bag as we all know, but ive put 1000s of hours into it, Ive probably played close to 15,000 hours of path of exile (oh dear), Ive been playing grim dawn since its beta when it was just 1 act and me n anuhart were just in here farming the warden with blackwater cocktail and spirit stacking for 100s of hours like crazy people. when i say this mod is more fun than grim dawn or diablo 2 thats not coming from someone who hasnt really played a lot of arpgs.

i get wanting to make the pure diablo 2. but i think an opportunity would be missed if u didnt do that and then say ok, lets have a second version here where we look at the cool content available to us in grim dawn and reintroduce a lot of it, maybe edit it to be more in line with how the diablo content is functioning. even going further afield, poe has a lot of cool ideas, skills, items, mechanics, torchlight 2 has moments. if it were mine id look at what i can do within the limitations of the grim dawn code, what i cant do, what was cool about all the arpgs we know and love and just have a field day with it.

obviously thats just my take tho, its ur mod and whatever you do with it, fine, what im playing right now is amazing and thanks so much m8 from me and the mrs, we love the mod.

What exactly is not working? Can you see RoT map in Custom games? If so, what happens when you try to launch it?

If you really want help then you should come to RoT Discord as it’s much more efficient method of solving issues like yours.

Made a poll some time ago and majority of RoT players at that time voted for this option. I personally don’t mind having GD classes in RoT too much as it adds more build possibilities for some. The only drawback from a dev perspective is the additional work that has to be put into balancing GD classes around RoT content, that’s pretty much it. However, the poll results were pretty clear: remove it.

If beat normal difficulty and playing next, enemies lvl below player and you get small exp. Has this problem been resolved?

Thing is it’s not a 1-1 replica of diablo 2.There’s a lot of different versions of D2 mods.There’s TQ that had one scared 2 there’s even one in development that’s being built on the starcraft 2 engine.This one is by far the best cause of the map he made.The amount of effort that they put into this mod are mind boggling.

I would keep the GD classes cause of the build diversity and i can just imagine how much work it would take to remove it from the base mod.I didn’t have much time to play but got started yesterday with my barb.Maybe thinking a soldier would fit like a glove :grin:

There WAS talk of there being 2 versions of the game, one version with ALL GD content included, the other version with almost all GD content removed (I wanted a version with GD content removed cause GD gear makes up about 70% of the drops I get and I’m playing only D2/RoT classes). I’m guessing since elvenroth is in charge there’s only going to be one version and that’s with GD content remaining which means the game will need even longer to balance since you’re now looking at 50+ mastery combos.
