Fixed in the upcoming 0.7 update.
When I activate a skill shrine and recast my abilities (frozen armor, holy shield, energy shield, conviction aura, enchant), will the bonuses persist after the skill shrine duration is over?
Also the mercenaries scale with player bonuses, does it make sense to recast the mercenary after activating combat shrine, will he get the bonus and will the bonus stay after the shrine duration is over?
Most skills will update with your skill level afaik, so recasting them wont be necessary. Iām not 100% sure if the same goes for pets. A mercenary wont benefit from a skill shrine as the skill shrine wont buff his skills, only your skills.
Pretty sure skill shrines work on pet. When the +2 from skill shrines adds another summon, that summon stays around even after the skill shrine expires and pets seem to keep the extra HP and stats since the HP bars of summons stays the same.
INTERESTING Goober, I never used the shrines so I didnāt notice. I usually just hit the experience shrines, LOL.
It seems that every world boss has a chest at their place, but I canāt find one at Sellenah (forgotten temple, under Upper Kurast). Am I blind or there is no chest?
I havenāt read through this entire thread so donāt chew my head off if this has already been suggested. Given the absolutely amazing work that has been done on this mod I think it would be incredible to have a throwback to diablo 1 added at some point in the future. Having played the Diablo 3 version of Diablo 1ās quest it would be really cool to see something like that added here as well. I know it is a lot of work but incorporating the Diablo 1 quest (even if as an easter egg, like Diablo 3 did) would truly make this the ultimate version of Diablo 2. I meanā¦ as it stands Iād recommend people buy Grim Dawn to play this mod without ever touching the base game (and I love Grim Dawnās base game).

This has been suggested in the past but given how much extra work would implementing something like this beā¦ itās very unlikely to ever happen.
I found out I just suck with melee builds, as I didnāt have sufficient dex given into the build. But thatās just one of many issues. I feel like the game is so DPS heavy, due to itās difficulty, itās lacking in build diversity. Iām not sure if Iāll quit my character. Weāll see. I made an ENTIRELY different build, alot of the same skills but with new abilities like Concentration. So I might as well start over, LOL. MAYBE, didnāt have time to play today so far.
The defensive end seems to be a dead end. I was building up defenses that really worked in Hell mode, I could take a beating! But DPS is king.
I had similar issues with Duriel as I did with Andariel, but they were compounded. Iād actually gone to hell mode and grinded it out for two more passive points, or Iād maybe not have enough to kill Duriel. Iām not sure, but I donāt think even 100% hit chance against Duriel would have made a difference. I think the final numbers was 64%, at level 68 and alot of grinding the world boss again. Doing well over 100k DPS, Duriel barely died for me, within about 1 second of doing his heal again (or maybe itās regen, Iāve no idea).
Every character Iāve had so far seems to do ok with full on offensive skill increases, and then dialing back and getting some defense later, when I donāt have enough. Normal + hasnāt affected it nearly as much as Nightmare.
It feels like the bosses are DPS checks, as the other content was just fine with my defensive build.
Itās an issue I had with D3, wanting a constant challenge with trash mobs as people called them, and then getting slaughtered by Elites to get my constant challenge. But in this case I didnāt have to TRY to have a challenge, as this mod is actually hard.
The only thing I preserved is I popped 20 points into the cold bolts against ranged enemies, that does work with Frozen Armor. Iāll see what that does.
On my passive tree I have full on elemental damage instead of shield skills, which I assumed was the point of using a one handed weapon.
I think retaliation COULD work if I did sorceress spells and used only one skill tree early. Even when I did keep the build going, there wasnāt enough skill points available to max the defensive cold sorceress skills, and alot of the point of the skill was retaliation. Will be interesting to see what it turns into in future patches.
However, shields are also part of retaliation and a BIG part of it! And a sorceress may choose a two handed weapon, as alot of them are great for her.
Anyway, Iāll keep playing, and maybe Iāll be wiser with another build on overall melee and how it stacks up.
The last thing this game/mod is lacking is build diversityā¦

As always, if you go pure defense, and no offensive, youāll lack damage. Or if you go full offensive powers, youāll likely die easily. Thereās a balance you need to have between the 2, which can be different while leveling and per build.

Maybe the best way to put it is that putting alot of points into defensive skills, by their very nature, can doom your character to obscurity or total incompetence.
Rest assured, I still have Holy Shield, amazing skill. But see, thatās offensive as well. Another thing going for it, itās only 20 points and you are done! And it offers enough variety of stats, that it works well with many build types. In fact, alot of skills in Paladin are like that, they are well designed and promote build diversity.
If you consider what would happen, if you did what some players ask of the game, being able to enable multiple auraās at the same time, that actually depletes build diversity and at the same time makes Paladin godly and totally essential as a second choice skill set.
waiting for 0.7 before downloading since it would be a big hit to my monthly data, so what would be the eta on that? also whatās this about early game becoming more difficult in the newer versions because of balancing that you did? and I understand the last time I played that d2 classes were more powerful/better than gd classes? has that been balanced in the new versions?
0.7 version is going to be released as a standalone (approx. 7,4GB) and also in form of update (approx. 3,5GB) for those who already have 0.6.1.5 or higher.
ETA is 4-7 weeks depending on how testing goes.
GD classes havenāt been touched yet so the difference is still the same. The main thing that has changed in 0.6.5.1+ is overall campaign difficulty because the content was too easy due to no balancing since Act 1 release.
Should we expect even harder levelling?
@Garfunkel I believe Ram was referring to the former changes, not the future ones. Itās been stated numerous times the armor rating of the enemies will be reduced some. I think thatās the change anyway, if I remember correctly. hehe
Correct. But itās defense thatās going to be lowered, not armor rating.
Iām late to the party seeing as this was created almost 5 years ago, but holy cow. I had a wonderful time playing this last night with my partner on multiplayer. We completed Act 1. Heās more of a GD fan so he went for a GD class combo and Iām more of a D2 fan so I did a D2 class combo.
There were so many places where the original, dark theme from D2 came through well (like the caves and catacombs) and the new features from Grim Dawn were used well to amplify it, like the 3D layout inside the caves and the different earth textures for the different Act 1 areas. The D2 Necroās minions having abilities was a surprising twist. Andariel was super challenging.
Iām looking forward to playing the rest of the acts. Kudos to the devs.
Double GD classes will be very hard. Gd classes dont scale very well. You will want some specific d2 item that grants you a skill.
Yeah I remember reading that suggestion in the instructions for the mod. Weāve been okay so far though since his tank character is complemented by my D2 minions and my DPS. Weāll keep in mind as we play that we can switch to D2 classes only if itās too hard. Also Iām keeping an eye on the news here for upcoming balance updates.
Where do I farm for Mythical Tal Rasha set? Does it drop in the Shattered realm? Does it drop from Act bosses, hidden ubers? Or only from World bosses?
