[Mod] Reign of Terror

You really dont enjoy it do you?

I’ve never found the falling rocks hard to see (dont think I’ve ever had to pay attention to it really), but stuns and petrified can be resisted through some devotions/gear/augments if that’s what getting you.

Changing the rocks in something more visible is easy enough, I can turn m into the green ones that bone ash or lilith uses for example. But you are the first as far as I’m aware, to mention this.

I quite like the mod overall, I just hate the Andariel encounter on Hell with a passion :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I’ll try to change things up, there must be a reasonable way to beat her…up to this point the build played very smooth against all other act bosses.

I dated the maiden of hell and anguish.

She was a cheap date and alot of fun.

In fact, she was a cluster of fun.

@chapter master dude: I’m glad SOMEONE is playtesting this. I was thinking the other day this has to be the ultimate mod of any game I’ve played. Something like Grimmarilion is ultimately satisfying sure, but that’s more of a database mod. RoT takes out ALL the stops!

EDIT: actually Grimarrilion is more than just a database mod as it requires new special effects, etc. Still, most of the original assets are intact.

Thanks for the reply. Turns out the transmuters came with v.7. Haven’t upgraded, so no transmuters. No matter; I’ll manage.

This reminds me when i first started RoT.I didn’t know the mechanics and build 1 point in attack skill the rest into passives.I ran up to Andriel and as you can guess She Knocked me the … out…That was on normal first play through before the balancing of the mod.I love this mod.Inbetween my studies and at night gaming i make slow progress but i am more sight seeing than actually playing the game :joy:.

I don’t like a game to easy.I play diablo 1 thehell2 mod i play diablo 2median xl mod i play sacred 2 diablo 2 mod.I even play sacred 1 reborn mod.Everygame i play has a difficult mod.Because the stock difficulty of a game are usually way to easy.I will see if i can take a week off and try and finish this mod.

I am not sure if my game still crashed underground.I did redo my raid setup, update all my drivers.Reinstalled grim dawn and RoT.If it still crash then idk. It’s a directx error but i doubt it’s a gpu error. Can be a software error somewhere.

My personal experience recently is that it only crashes in underground passage if you leave and then come back. Happened when I died to the boss on level 2.

Do ubers have a preference for certain trinkets? I killed Moloch about 15 times now and all he seems to drop is the necromancer one. I got 4 out of him so far, but I’m looking for a sorcerer. Every single time he also dropped the same key (destruction), so that is definitely a fixed drop for him.

Is there a loot table somewhere for the ubers?

Yes, the hidden ubers in act1-5 each drop their oen class relic. Each class having 2-4 different verstond. Brutalus has a generalists relic. The act6 ubers can drop any of the new trinkets (about 12 different ones, if you count a different ability as a different relic).

Keys are fixed.

Sorceress relic drops from baba yaga. Someone made a google doc with all ubers and worldbosses and their loot on posted it on the RoT discord.

I think I found out why I can’t get Andariel below 50%. At that point I seem to be doing 1/10 of my normal damage and when I switch on damage numbers I see a lot of ā€œInvulnerableā€ pop up. Did you seriously give Andariel a phys immunity? If so, that should be visible when I hover over her, cause there is literally no feedback unless you play with damage numbers on (which I don’t, cause it creates a mess on screen with fast skills).

That would also explain why my sustain is starting to tank at that point.

Edit: Ok, now I put everything into res reduction and was able to beat her. I’m still not sure whether it’s a full on immunity that’s kicking in, but something iffy was happening around the 50% mark in all the attempts before.

Did you seriously not notice this before? :upside_down_face:
No, its a full immunity to any damage, she gets that for 2 seconds every time she spawns the zombies. So immune for 2 seconds every 13 seconds. Not specifically at 50% hp. Nothing resistance reduction can do against it either (although it does help of course in between immunity procs). It seems to be bugged, as it doesn’t happen every time even (if you check my video, the proc happens at ~75% hp, around the 0:17 time mark).

Again, the only thing that kicks in at 50% HP is the full Crushing blow/%health damage immunity.
If you rely much on this for your damage, you’ll notice it (for example users of Guillaume’s Face, Gore Riders, some abilties and weapons that have it a lot).

I’m not using any CB, cause I don’t like that mechanic as a whole. I can only tell you what I experienced in all my attempts, I got her down to 50% relatively quickly and then she stopped taking normal damage and I hit her for considerably less, immunity aside. Which meant I also did leech a lot less life and that was the reason I failed so many times.

Just as a comparison, I advanced through Act2 without a hitch and beat Duriel on the first try. That fight is pretty similar to Andariel, except it’s much more balanced. If your char has problems with the aoe dots, just kill the adds. Then you can focus on Duriel alone. That’s a better design in my opinion than having to compete with a timer until new adds spawn. Especially adds with aoe explosions, when the boss already spams aoe attacks every other second.

Eh, it’s a little too dark for my tastes. I mean, I know that’s the point but it’s hard to see what I’m doing.

Then open your settings, if playing full screen, and turn up the gamma. If not fullscreen, find your monitor or tv settings and turn up the gamma, or equivalent, there :no_mouth:

Playing on PC is about customization and options, they exist - use them.

Strange enough, if I lower gamma on my current rig/monitor and increase brightness dramatically, I actually need less contrast and can increase brightness a great deal without it being washed out, then I can see things much better, as long as I accept it’s a BIT too dark sometimes, but overall pretty good because my brightness is at 75 currently. My personal preference is to ensure it’s not washed out and that makes it a bit darker.

The settings for this mod seem to be changed from default, and I’m not thrilled about it, making it more difficult to get good settings and clarity than when I play Grim Dawn.

Older Games like Diablo 2 often had a rather muted look to it when it came to lighting, probably because of engine limitations of the time. I guess the dev team tried to recreate that instead of going for the way more contrasty and shiny GD look. I can respect that. See, I’m not always angry about something :innocent:

Seems to be darker for some than it is for me, based on screenshots, so likely has to do with settings. It’s also part getting used to. Also this is the reason the ā€˜light radius’ stat is a thing.

But yeah its also intended to be dark and foreboding etc.

Is the modifier ā€œDamage to/from Aetherials/Aether Corruptionsā€ used in this mod? If there are no mobs of that type, could it be removed? Cause in that case it only dilutes the pool of useful stats. I just got it as bonus stats on my mythical relic and at the moment it seems like a waste.

It cant be removed, as thats just a GD stat. GD items aren’t touched, neither are the majority of GD skills (for example arcanist has that racial bonus on a skill, or nightblades %damage to humans, inquisitor to eldritch etc.)

It’s been my experience many play Diablo 2 original with washed out graphics just so they can see the area better, so it seems the mechanic they tried to create with light radius backfired, but it’s much more tolerable in this mod overall, so no major complaints.

Ah, that’s too bad. I guess it’s also not possible then to adjust the weighting so that it will only appear in 0.00001% of cases? It just doesn’t feel good when you spend quite a bit on something and it gives you that as a ā€œbonusā€.

I’m still struggling to get life steal working reliably. My base is 12%, just from gear and devotions. With Cobra Strike, I’m at 26%. My whirlwind does on average 150k and I’m attacking 4 times per second. So shouldn’t I leech at the very minimum 10k x 4 each second? Are there a lot of leech resistant mobs in Act 4 and 5? Cause in both acts there were considerable pauses between gaining life back, nowhere near 4 times a second. Somtimes it took several seconds to pick up again.

Are there certain ailments that prevent you from leeching? I just tested it out in Act1 as well and ever so often I gained nothing back, even when whirling through a group of mobs. I wasn’t missing any attacks by the way, my AR is high enough currently.
