New Forum Feedback

Discourse does not have pages. It’s not something we deliberately chose to change for the sake of change, but I do like the new format.

But you can bookmark specific posts now

Honestly I wasn’t a fan at first, but now I love the new format

I think part of the problem with post numbering for me is knowing which post the number on the right corresponds to. In the old forum the number was actually in the post while here it’s on the blue scroll bar.

So which post exactly is 376? Mine or Malwaiglenn’s or mine below his? I’m never quite sure unless I’m at the first or last post in a thread.

Yeah, perhaps it is possible in the discourse plattform to add post number on individual posts?

Well, can’t be helped then I guess. Especially when Rhis has done an awesome job with everything else

Combined with the new search, quite handy indeed.

The one at the top of the screen is the one the link refers to. You can see by hovering over the post date/time:

nice :zantai:

O_O, didn’t know about that. Interesting.

That was enlightening

That seems to make no sense Zantai. In your screenshot it looks like that’s post 398 and we’re not even that high yet! :astonished:

It does make sense if there are deleted posts and they are factored in.

This would be my guess, that or posts that got moved:

Wonderful. :unamused:

Deleted/moved Posts are counted?

#LiterallyUnforumable

Um, doesn’t seem to be able to search by post numbers either unless I’m doing it wrong. Neither putting 376 into the search nor #376 calls up the post I want.

Will this forum have some sort of signature support? Or such a feature not supported by the Discourse platform?

click your name in your post, there is your signature…

look at mine, you can also insert a link and so on, in your options, top right

Not saying that i don’t get where you come from, quite the opposite because i felt like that the first day too, due my bad experience with Gearbox Forums, however based on my first hand experience(if you look at my profile and see how often i use these Forum this past weeks and month) you actually can get used to it. Maybe doesn’t goes for everyone, but i’d argue most can get used to discourse, as long as they are open minded about that and don’t tackle the issue with this childish attitude of: “I don’t like and will never like it…and the more others might like it, the more i despise it”.

First of all, i’ve to point out that majority of Topics are lost at the Point when someone try to claim their own opinioin as “objectively” Facts.

Because if we talk about Facts, even more for People who actually use the forums on an regularly basis… or even further on an daily basis, would’ve seen that we didn’t have any kinds of security issues since crate switched to discourse, the whole new forum is much slicker and faster compared to the old one, and comes with some neat (little) Features. At DayOne Release of the new Forum it had issues - like pretty long loadingtimes, login-issues etc… technical issues which are being expected if you relaese something, but since that was fixed the whole Forum runs smoother. However you neither seem to care or go into it.

So the only Facts we could talk about, are that everything you said so far is not “objectively” in the slightest, but rather your own Opinion, which itself isn’t wrong per se, everyone is allowed to have one (and to express them), but if i look at your profile and the fact that you complain about it a few weeks later tells me that you are not even an regular user of this site, but rather look at it casually, and sorry to say this: Why should anyone really care about your Opinion. The Majority of Regular User seem to get used to it, and for a Software which in your opinion is objectively bad, the scale of backlash is rather low, and the Developer, which are the ones who mainly use this forums, which are arguable the most active people on this forums, like it… so why should your Opinion matters more than the regular ones or dev ones? And tbh folks who would only casually visit this forum anyway sounds not much of an threat if they say “Well if you keep using discord, i simply won’t use (that often) anymore!”

Oh you even prove my point. And if discourse is such an issue for you, you still have Steam-Forums for an classic forum experience. Well for Compendium and stuff you might still need to visit the forum, but if you aren’t an drama-queen who enjoy to overdramatize to click a few links won’t be any harmful to you and you don’t interact / work with discourse which despise so much anyway.

thanks ! Never noticed that pop-up window.

Going backward/forward in trying to reference multiple posts in one reply.

It’s pretty easy to just click on a button and be taken right to where some other post was. Easier than scrolling in search of it or trying to precisely handle the right-bar-thing to the exact post number (assuming you remember it), which gets especially difficult in threads such as these.

To that end, the Multiquote feature is also sorely missed.

Edit: Side thing; is it possible for a user to filter out forum sections from the “new topics” on their own? It’d be great if I could just ignore all the Classes, Skills & Builds posts clogging up the new topics section as I’m primarily interested in looking at bugs/gameplay discussion/ideas & feedback/mods.
