Patch SCREWED Months of work

Just want to rant as well.
Yeah, it sucks when you’ve put lots of time and effort to make something, then they just blew it off. My PvP reflect build which used to have 300% reflect, now only has 4%…

Now THAT is a dead buid.

The real question here is…where did you find that 4%. :stuck_out_tongue:

The real question is… where did he find a PvP scene in Grim Dawn

Play with my friends.

Kill them with Fevered Rage?

I have saved you a few beers mate

Pvp in Grim Dawn is even more unbalanced than MP in general

Wait, someone cares about reflect? WTF? Go retaliation instead of reflect, rofl. As I said in another thread, reflect is only good if you have no or negative resistances. So, no matter what you do, it’s shit, because you either die or kill a monster after 1 hour.

Fun fact: I had a build with 150 - 225 reflect (don’t remember the exact value there) and I actually left for dinner when Mesmer or something (a hero boss) attacked me alone (edit: it was not Mesmer, it was another monster with under 80% lightning resist, but a hero - Mesmer has 118%). He hit me for about 300 - 400 damage, while I had about 500 HP regen, when I came back after 30 mins, he still had 75% HP, so I went full idiot mode and let it “fight” for another hour, he had around 20% HP then.

It was only for PvP, to counter high dps builds. Most of them got 1 shotted because they took 300% of their own damage.
It was bad for PvE because monsters have high health and low damage, whilst most players have low health and high damage.

I’ll just assume you all had 80% resists, and as oneshot means “one hit and death”, your builds had to hit at least (minimum value) 300000 damage, which is quite impossible. Now, if you’re talking about after RR, which is impossible because you’d die after just one hit before reflecting stuff, you’d need 60k minimum damage, which is again impossible because you’d die and then redirect the damage. This is calculated for 100% reflect because I am too lazy to do more math.

I don’t see the point of reflect damage being useful in PvP. I think the damage is reduced in PvP, I remember seeing something like this in the game files. All in all, that build was… trash for both, PvP and PvE, unless you cheated on it for unlimited HP (which I doubt).

So there is no damage penalty in pvp? Sounds balanced and fun

1.0.7.1 values:

So it makes reflect even less likely to oneshot unless you have -50% resists.

No, I didn’t die because my char blocked the damage, and their chars took 300% of their non resisted by mine damage.
I don’t really know the mechanics. Perhaps like this:

  • They dealt 100k of damage.
  • My char resisted and blocked the damage.
  • That 100k of damage was reflected x 300% to the attackers.
  • They took 300k of damage → resisted by 80% → 60k of damage → further reduced by (let’s say) 3k of armour → 57k of damage.
  • If they had 20k of health, they’d be dead.

You know, there is a stat called reflected dmg reduction? You know, bosses had 90% of this stat on them.

Reflect is affected by both resistances, your and the enemy’s. If you both have 80% resists, the damage is reduced by 96% (you can do the math yourself if you don’t believe me). Block happens before anything else, and only reduces damage by an amount, so everything after block happens, resists etc. You can’t block 100k damage at once, it’s impossible no matter how much you try. I think the largest amount to block is around 20 - 25k, so you’re dead no matter what.

There’s proof the damage is scaled in PvP, so you’ve never killed anyone in one shot nor stood alive. I’d only believe that if you showed me a video, because I can do math and count how much damage they need to kill you and you kill them.

So it goes like this:

  1. enemy damage
  2. your block (doesn’t reduce 100% of the damage)
  3. your resists
  4. enemy resists

So basically, 100k - 80% (because I assume you had 80%) = 20k, now I assume you have 5k damage blocked, so 15k - 80% (enemy resist) = 3000 damage. Now, 3k damage - 80% (see the screenshot, you deal only 20% damage in PvP) = 600 damage. Your enemy had to have 1800 HP in order to be oneshotted (I tripled the value because the 600 is 100% damage reflected).

Unless I fucked up, your enemy would need to hit you for 600000 in order to oneshot himself with 10800 HP.

I can’t make the video anymore since the game is patched so my char doesn’t have the 300% reflect anymore, but you can google “grim dawn pvp build” and read it for yourself.

Yes, that’s why I wrote:

Not all people took all the reflected damage reduction from the constellations and components.

If I may be so bold - I think the discussion deviated so far away from the OP that it might as well be a new thread (No offence).

In fact, I ctrl-f’d the whole thread only to see that gladmark never once replied.

Strange.

Seems like all he wanted to do was toss a grenade, and leave.

I didnt spend weeks gathering gear and perfecting a build to have them destroyed in one patch. Why does Crate feel the need to punish people with successful builds? Purifier…screwed. Familiar Conjuror…screwed. Some people like an endless grind…I dont. Wake up call to join the real world again. Go ahead fanboys…make excuses for getting your nuts kicked in.

And to top it all off…The game glitches and stutters with the patch…particularly running through Udenbog and that whole area.Yes my Windows and everything else is updated, verified and works like it should. What an anti-climax on the eve of FG.

I don’t know enough about pet builds, so I shall remain from commenting too much aside from saying this - sigatrev roflstomped the crucible theorycrafting scene when he appeared out of nowhere with his witching hour builds.

And, correct me if I’m wrong, they are still amazing.

Sure, a SPECIFIC build concept regarding a class combination might be ruined (e.g. I can no longer run mortar trap on dagallon’s, you may not get double familiars), but to say it’s dead? Not a chance.

I think it’s reasonable to define a dead build as one which is unable to clear the main campaign. It also seems reasonable to me that a casual player should expect casual results.

EDIT: Bankai once created a toon which beat AoM WITHOUT ANY CLASSES. THAT’S RIGHT. HE DIDN’T USE A SINGLE SKILL POINT. So forgive me if I find the claim that the build is dead hard to believe.

And clearing gladiator 170 is not something ‘casual’

As for purifiers…how in the name of satan’s sulphuric arse hole are they ‘dead’?

80% dmg penalty still seems a bit too low

I think pvp in these kinda games will never be balanced enough for me to care about it. If I wanna play pvp I play a game where that aspect is the main-core of that game.
