Playtesters' plea for help - Zantai's Last Secret

100!

Finally able to max out res and start farming Ultimate (very slow).
Going to make a long stop at Burial Hill in act 1.

Need 1000 aether crystals or 300 shards for a ton of dynamite (and crafting of course) to be able to dismantle all the blues/purples that I don’t need to get rare mats for gambling (Tyrant Hold blacksmith) and most importantly Celestial Lotus to convert the unneeded set items into the dream set. I could probably proceed without the set but at a measly 25% of the total possible damage, which would be painfully slow and inefficient.

The true grind has begun!

Congrats Contragor on getting this far. :champagne: More power to you to get to the end of the challenge.

What’s your build looking like atm?

It’s very raw still, missing a lot of toughness and damage. Amnesty is a temp set and will be gone in the end.

I stand corrected, this is overrated! 3 boring Skype conferences and here’s the result:

2/3 to go!

Update

Just a tad more to go. Been a very productive work day for me hehe. Kidding aside, I did manage to be efficient at work too.

Another important tip for those doing this untwinked (from scratch), - Bella Fald is your friend. She is a secret celestial smith in the Tomb of Herald Mathis (Steelcap District). She can craft legendary armor, jewelry and weapons from rare mats like Wendigo spirit, mutagen and missive. This increases your chances of completing your build or just getting useful legendaries along the way. I’ve spent all my coin and mats and while didn’t get the items am looking for, I now have quite a few legs to mix and match, some are very useful. The only problem is you have to be able to reach this area on Elite, which means beating Ekket’zul and the big Aetherial gate keeper. Those aren’t easy for classless chars.

Call me slow and you may actually already know this but I discovered something today. Most of my game time up to this point has been all about leveling all my 36 characters and now this new one. So I don’t have much SR experience. Well, with this classless character I slowed way down to just farm stuff and today I decided to spend some time farming up to SR 35/36 in Normal. Low and behold I was quite surprised at the number of drops I got just from that. So I’m actually going to spend some time farming that for a while to amass some stuff and see if I can get some of my end build stuff to drop. I may even see how far I can push in Normal. I haven’t died yet doing it (which is a breath of fresh air given all my other deaths.)

Any tips on doing this if it’s something you already do?

This is a great way to get some gear and coin early on. I do occasionally farm the first few shards to mix in with the nemesis and trove runs. The drops are definitely good but the risks are pretty high too, even on normal. But I’m curious, what kind of drops do you normally get on 35-36?

I’m getting roughly 10-12 MIs (a few +1 rares) and a handful of Epics as well as 2 or 3 legendaries. Actually kind of surprised. I’ve only run 4 so far so I’m not sure how it will average out.

Just worked up to 50 and 50 made me cry.

2-3 legendaries and occasional blueprints would be really good for normal. Maybe I should give it a shot as I’ve just spent all my iron and mats again (almost two days worth of farming) and got zilch again from all these gambling attempts. Hope you have better luck with your build. How’s the progress so far?

I don’t know about blueprints as I didn’t reboot my blueprints for this. But, I just finished a 40-41 and here’s what dropped.

This is definitely better than the first shards. Worth the risk IMO. Where all those potions…

BTW, how is your damage? Are you able to beat the timer at those shards?

Yes, I am beating it at that point. My build relies heavily on ADCtH. I think it gets me into trouble because it’s really tough to disengage if I don’t kill something fast enough and debuffs start adding up. Often times this is when I die.
50 on the other hand was really iffy. I think 35/36 or 40/41 is going to be the sweet spot for me right now.

It might still be pushing it for HC though. So be very carefully. I’ve only done a few runs where I don’t die. This is seriously a lesson in futility. I’ve never raged so much at a computer. LOL.

Yep. Got a close call at shard 8, was able to finish it and called it a night. Won’t be pushing SR for now, slow but steady is my only option. Eventually, these vendor gambling attempts should succeed.
Chance to get the amulet : 1/80
Chance to get one set item from Bella Fald: 1/83
Chance to transmute to the right set: 1/68

The grind continues…

@CaiusMartius Your progress and recent insights kept me thinking. Maybe I shouldn’t be locked on acid so much after all. So I went back to theory-crafting and came up with a new build idea based on currently available gear. Can’t wait to respec and show you guys a new video tonight after work. The new build uses 3 main and 3 complimentary damage types. It has a massive AOE and a bunch of nice procs. And the cherry on top, it incorporates those Horns of Ekket’zul! You hear that RNGesus, I’m gonna troll you back now!

That’s awesome!!! Can’t wait to see it.

Well, so far it’s been a mess. I’ve tried the hybrid spec acid/poison/vitality/chaos/fire, crafted the Oblivion relic, swapped some gear around, added voidsoul - 2 pieces, Ekket’zul Horns, couple of greens with doom bolts and got good numbers on paper, but the actual performance is poor. Not even breaking 50k dps total and without godly RR, there’s no hope.
I feel it can work in the end but not without much optimization. Back to the drawing board…

Now we are proper grinding!
240+ ancient hearts
120+ missives
25x celestial lotus
And around 10mil iron bits

That’s a LOT of troves and nems for a fresh char.

All spent on gambling so far. And… no dice. Not much to report. Back to grinding!
