It’s funny you should mention wheat. We actually have a bunch of new environmental art completed that is just waiting to be added to the game and among those items are haystacks, sheaves of wheat, and of course, creepy scarecrows. We plan to have some areas outside villages that are crop fields that look like they were in the midst of harvest when things went terrible wrong and now lie eerily silent (well, silent except for the zombie noises)…

The skulls are Aetherial Wraiths that sometimes emerge from the Possessed when you kill them. Not only are the Possessed randomly spawned but we’ve added tech that allows us to also randomize what type of Wraith will emerge from them, if any. So you never know what you’re going to get.

Life is like a box of wraith filled zombies, you never know what you’re going to get

Farms and zombies, what more could I ask for? …must restrain urge to pre-order, at least until some reports from the alpha are in.

Awesome screenshots! This game looks like it will be very fun on multiplayer. One thing I’d love to see in the world environment - things like pots, pans, random equipment, saws stuck in trees, flies, birds, basically small details that the player can enjoy as he’s running through the game world.

I know you won’t have these things in the initial screenshots because you’re so early on in development, but I hope you’ll add cool things like that in the future.

Game-play first - small but cool details later. Am I right?

The first screenies, nice!

They look really interesting, nice and dark. A bit empty atm perhaps, but I guess that’s due to the very early stage.

This is by far my favourite;

I at first thought the player character was completely black due to the skill (which would be pretty cool), but it looks amazing.

Btw, do blood sprays fall and remain on the ground? Cause that’d be even more awesome, but you don’t get that a lot in videogames…

Persistent gore would be a nice addition for those with beefier PCs… then you can have an evil laugh over the corpses of your fallen foes! Muahahahaha!!.. ahem.

Yes! You can see persistent blood sprays on the ground in the screenshot you posted if you look carefully. They are more obvious in the 3rd screenshot from the right, top row, on the media page. These are just stand-in FX and should become a little more elaborate once we have time to polish them.

Beyond just leaving blood on the ground where you hit guys, bodies actually leave blood spatters where they impact on the ground or even on vertical surfaces. So if you detonate a grenade in a ruined, zombie-filled house (which I love to do), you can even end up with blood spatters all over the walls.

DUDE, that’s so epic.

Indeed! We can custom-paint the environment!

Will the character be covered in blood, too? :stuck_out_tongue:

What do you guys imagine the UI to be? Inventory and stuff.
Some of the themes could be;

leather
stone
book
metal
wood

or maybe depending on the area, the main ui can change?
something like loki ui.

Well considering that the theme is old victorian, I would guess something along the lines of old wood with some rusted metal. This sounds to me like it would blend in pretty good, especially after seeing the screen shots. Maybe different classes could have a slightly different UI, kinda like how Warcraft III.

Grungy metal and wood is right on the money! We definitely will only be able to make one set of UI art though.

The UI isn’t included in screenshots because it is only partially completed and still has some stand-in elements. We wouldn’t mind showing our work in progress but we had a little bit too much fun with some of the place-holder icons and there could be trademark infringements. Our red bull energy-drink potion icon or captain morgan’s health potions for instance…

Captain Morgan HP’s are just win…

O for awesome :slight_smile: Love the doom’n’gloom. Can’t wait for more screenies showing other environments.

I’m not a fan of gore, I hope there is a setting that enables me to tone it down if I dont like how graphic it is.

I agree with you. In case there was not a possibility to remove the visualization of blood, I hope at least that the blood will be not excessive, and that it does not disturb the gameplay.

IT’s pre-alpha yet.

Later it will be mutch detailed/smoother.(+1 year development ahead!!!) And there will be an option to set the gore amount among childish and mature.

No blood countries: Australia, Germany, China, etc get a default 0 gore option in setup.ini maybe… the rest of all the world get the full love :slight_smile:

Would it be possible for the community to mod the UI post-release & give the rest of us more sets of UI art?
