SPOILER ALERT: Lore Discussion

I assume all non-eldritch primordial gods were his children.

Witch Gods are ascendants and thus not directly related to the primordials.

Mogdrogen is super salty about Uroboruuk and he was the strongest god among the pantheon. So I guess he was that OP and arkovian oligarchs picked a wrong enemy.

You are overthinking this, the devs made TQ, which was about Greek mythos and the GD creation myth is suspiciously similar to the greek one, Ch’ton being Uranus and Empyrion as Cronus.

So it seems Korvaak created a Titan of his own, too.

Ulzaad, Herald of Korvaak
A titan loyal only to Korvaak, Ulzaad heralded the arrival of his patron to all his subjects. Without his master’s command, Ulzaad became disillusioned and lost, eventually driven to madness and despair.

This means Korvaak was around the times before the gods warring with another… at the same time Empyrion was around?

Well i do believe he was there during the war of the gods.

Anyone think anything of the fact the Creed chants both Solael & Bysmiel when opening that portal to the void in AoM cinematic?

He also chants Attak Seru when he fails to control it which was pretty nice and makes sense. But the first part got me thinking

My 2 cents:

He was trying to open a portal to another plane/dimension, which is probably not something the Luminary had a genuine method for.

I would think his information on the matter mostly comes from interrogating Witch God cultist, so the way he tries to do it involves using the incantations he/his colleges learned from them, involving the names of the Witch Gods themselves.

PS:

On the matter he left out Dreeg i have 2 possible solutions:

 1. Inquisitors came in contact with the followers of the other two much more often, since Dreeg’s ones were probably more involved in gathering knowledge in contrary of gathering power/influence (which of the other two were much more about) thus having a lower priority for persecution.

 2. The words Solael and Bysmiel are sounding more cool and “incantationy” than Dreeg.

Yeah it’s normal that high level inquisitor bend the rules and use “forbidden” arts to meet their ends, as long as it respects the higher authority I suppose and not go rogue. Creed also is a bit wiser and understands nuance I guess.

There is also the involvement of these gods with the Void planes. There was a discussion also on Solael dmg types. PPl asking why chaos /vit and not just vit. One argued that since he draws some of his powers from the void inevitably since that would be the OG vit dmg dealer but also has Chos in the mix, so would solael.

Also Bysmiel has Chaos dmg (DG again) but also lightning which is also popular amongst Chaos minions ( “Glyph of Kelphat’Zoth”). There are lightning Dreadguards and bosses and so Bysmiel also has a lightning Guardian too

Based on some Inquisitor item descriptions, some Inquisitors skirted the borders of heresy by using Chthonic powers/items or Witch God ones.

Btw, yesterday I spotted on my screen (my background is a slideshow of all my GD screenshots) that there is a building in Lower Crossing that advertises shipping routes to Malmouth! I cannot find it right now but I do wonder if this was there from the beginnings as a clue towards things to come?

Well there actually is from the note Harbormaster’s Log - Lower Crossing.

Wouldn’t surprise me. They knew they were going to be making an expansion since it was part of the Kickstarter. In the same way that the Burrwitch Prison has always had Warden: Arthur Bruno over the gate. It may have shrunk a little over the years, but it’s always been there.

Not sure I get the correlation. Malmouth is a place they had to have planned ahead of time to add the references to the game, Arthur Bruno is medierra, so of course they knew about him. No foresight there.

Oh, yeah, it was mentioned there too, I forget…

Yeah, but didn’t need to put his name in the game. Both were planned, though Medierra’s name on the prison is probably a bit of fun on the devs’ part. See how many of the fans actually spot it.

Malmouth was also mentioned in another note.

Harbormaster’s Log - Burrwitch.

Found the place! It is indeed the ferry. I need to check my old Alpha screenshots to see if it was always there.

Art was adjusted with the Act 1 redesign.

So some more interesting stuff from the dev stream:

The eyeless Rylok-like monsters were confirmed to be gargoyles, and they were said to be ambushers (you will not see them standing around idle) with possible flying entry animations. The Champion version looks to be lightning-powered. And I agree with the stream-creator, shoulder armor and helmet based on these guys would be awesome.

Two new constellations aka gods were introduced:
Yugol, the Insatiable Night - huh, this thing sounds like it is even more ancient and dangerous than Chthon.

Azrakaa , the eternal sands - consort to Aeon, the god of time.

Adding to what BB_Shockwave said about Yugol and Azrakaa:
Yugol is Cold/Acid-themed. Celestial power is % Chance when hit that spawns damaging entities on a low cooldown.

Azrakaa is Pierce/Physical leaning towards Pierce. Celestial power is Chance on attack with reduced OA and Impaired Aim and a low cooldown. The description makes me think that it’ll work like the Eldritch Pact relic. Importantly as well, it’s not weapon-locked so should be great for Pierce/Physical ranged users.
Interesting lore about Yugol, that certainly opens more lore speculation.

The only thing left is the constellation image from Korvaak. That tease is killing me.

Zantai posted better images:

How do we know it’s a constellation for Korvaak?

What I ment was that we know how each constellation looks, except Korvaak’s constellation.
