SPOILER ALERT: Lore Discussion

Where is that on the map? I cannot read but a few of the location names and none are familiar. One seems to be… Bombistache Basin? Is that a sort of… bomb-mustache?
I can make out Korvan Sands and Plateau.
Btw, I hope the next Grim Misadventure brings some info on the 3 Witch God’s faction equipment and augments. Barrowholm and the Coven had some nice summoner equipment (my Conjurer is still using the Barrowholm Mace) but I cannot wait to see what nice Epics and Legendaries we can get straight from Bysmiel herself for a summoner build.
Also, enemy-wise I assume the things we met in the Sanctum of the Three were more like Eldritch wildlife influenced/used by the Three, but now, I suspect we will meet whatever servitors and minions they have, as well. Those skeletal spikey canines shown in the CGI design preview stream look a lot like the Rifthounds (Eldritch Hound/Packmaster)of Solael, just even more emaciated and mutated.

If you check the worldmap on grimtools, than you can see where the area is. It’s South-East of Devils Crossing, just follow the river.

Grimtools has a world map now? That’s new… Nice, and indeed, lot of empty places on the map we can still go to.

Don’t think too hard about the location of those map markers relative to the current content.

Oh I see, being sneaky devs yet again. You lot are SO evil it’s not true.

Ooh dammit now that I remember. That Grava was a bit worrying ,that he would spoiler those rift in his stream.

I have a conspiracy theory that Inquisitor class was made so powerful in order to justify Creed’s badass reputation. That’s the only justification I can come up with :stuck_out_tongue:

I dunno, I started one Inquisitor but I am not really wowed by the skills they have yet. The traps all take time to arm and need you to lure enemies into them. The gun skills are fine when used with a demolitionist pairing sure.

Wait until you effectively employ the mix of large %DR + flat damage reduction from seals.

Wait until you effectively employ the mix of large %DR + flat damage reduction from seals.

But I digress. Creed’s backstory influence was my point. He may be a celestial of sorts, but then the hero also has some of those traits.

I kinda wished the class would be more of a trickster/jack of all trades given what Creed is shown like, basically being an investigator/agent with access to various artifacts.
I saw the various “Word of” skills and was like, well, one of them is Curse of Frailty that also does some damage, and the other is the same as both the Nightblade and the Occultist skills that heal you and give buffs. Would have been nicer if we could have gotten more turret summons instead to complement a Demolitionist build.

So, something that always bugged me… Myla Finnegan, aka the Wraith of Sorrows. Who is this guy really? Likely not connected to Arkovia given how far the tomb is. Seems to be just a ghost but then why does she need to “feed” on travelers for their vitality when ghosts kinda just live forever, at least the Arkovian ones do. Maybe somehow connected to Solael?

I am not seeing a connection between Myla Finnegan, aka the Wraith of Sorrows and Solael. I could however see a connection between Uroboruuk and the Witch Gods.

About Korvaak, why would he make use of a messenger? And would that messenger be a new entity or would it be Ulzaad.

In a conversation with the messenger:

You cannot stop what was set in motion centuries ago.

I wonder what things were set in motion centuries ago, maybe something with the Aetherials or with Uroboruuk and the downfall of the Arkovians. After all what better way to get more souls/worshippers

The “eye of Korvaak” and other parts that were hidden. Presumably by some oathkeepers.

What is all these “oathkeeper” talk of late? I know Zantai dropped some hints and people think this will be the new mastery (likely something shield-based paladin-like, as we so far lack such a mastery) but lore-wise, I don’t recall much mention of these oathkeepers in notes in-game.

I doubt Uroboruuk is in any way connected to the Witch Gods. Simply put, just how much Eldritch powers Necromancers have? Not much. Their powers are focused on life and death, and reanimation of dead matter or calling of spirits of the dead - nothing they do requires breaching the Eldritch Realm like the Witch Gods did. Even the rumored way in how Uroboruuk got his immortality was with the exploitation of a lot of mortal pain and suffering - again, unlike the Witch Gods who breached through to another realm and established themselves there by sacrificing from themselves. Or at least it seems so - Dreeg was (reportedly, but I tend to believe the Attendant) cursed by the gods into his new form, and Solael requires sacrifices (though maybe he does not need them to survive and this is, as the Attendant says, just a way for him to feel mortal again). So far only Bysmiel seems to have made it mostly unscathed - the Bonds of Bysmiel constellation at least says that she just ascended before being burnt at the stake.

It’s pretty clear.

I cannot find such an item in the item database… or was this seen during a stream? Got a screenshot?

Latest stream - screenshot in here:

Thanks, I usually just check into the stream and don’t watch all of it, must have missed that.

So new factions will be

Eldritch Horrors
Cult of Bysmiel
Cult of Dreeg
Cult of Solael

Seem only Eldritch Horrors are enemies …

Knew that already. Stream of 25th May.

"Can we go hostile at any point or are we locked in once a choice is made?

You cannot go hostile with these factions. That is not the way the story is going in Grim Dawn."
