The Fluffy Squishy - Pet Conjurer :3

Last update squished the SR about 2.5 times. Old SR 75-76 is now equivalent of SR 30-31.

Oh man. Ok that explains why I’m getting shit on!

Hello Maya, thank you for putting out such quality builds. I plan to run this one through as I really like pet builds. I am confused on the comment about:

“Since we are going for a Conjurer, it is recommended that you put enough points in Shaman early on, to get a 16/16 Briarthorn before going back to focus on the Occultist Side.”

I do not see anywhere in the leveling skills where you took briarthorn, I was wondering why and what you mean by the comment above.

Thank you very much!!!

Not maya but judging by grimtools build, the endgame makes briar as support pet only, although briar for leveling is pretty ok strat hence 16/16 in briar, later on when u reach 94 and have trinkets set with the dagger u remove briar (not completely) but keep it as support (embolding pressence) and invest in bird, hellcat instead afterwards. Also in order to trigger devotions later on, u will need curse ability from occultist, which u shouldnt worry in early levels where u don’t have to use RR yet or have devo points.

Thank you for this information.

I have one more question, something that I am confused about.

What gear am I looking for, for myself as I level. I take it the stats on the items dont effect the pets at all unless it says “Bonus to pets” so is that what I look for as I level? Just whatever offers the most bonus to pets?

Thanks agaian!

Yes, to simply put it, try to wear everything with “Bonus to all pets”, if you don’t have those gear parts yet, no big deal since shaman mastery itself can do wonders.

FlamingX21 has good advice. I would add that there are several items available as you level that are target farmable and faction. Rhowari have good chest and shoulders at level 35 respected status. Halion has a good medal in Act 2. Act 3 has 2 very good items - bloodsworn codex and Zaria’s amulet. Both are great for this build. At the end of act 3 is Karroz and he will drop a good pet ring. If you are lucky he will drop 2 of them on a single kill. Act 5 has another medal item that is good (if you are lucky because it doesn’t drop so often) - Wendigo gaze. More faction items for later on are shoulders from Barrowholm and chest from Bysmiel. In all, the pet conjurer is very fun to level with many items target available throughout the process.

Hi Maya,

Thank you for amazing pet builds throughout the years <3

I just wanted to point out that “Runebound Topaz” in calculator has different effects than in game
IG Runebound Topaz stats:
+160 Health
+52 Defensive Ability
10% Reduced Stun Duration
+8% Shield Damage Blocked

Copared to Stun resistance shown in Grim dawn calculator, not sure if you were aware of this, just wanted to point it out ^^

Thanks!

The discrepancy is due to the fact that I myself leveled it with Occultist only, without taking Shaman at all until level 94.

But, putting enough points into the Shaman mastery just to get a 16/16 Briarthorn to act as an extra body to both tank and dps for you is a pretty good choice. It is still 100% optional, but recommended. Hence the wording

First of all welcome to the forums

Regarding Topaz, not sure what you mean by that. It is the same in Grimtools as well -

Thanks so much!

I’ve actually been here before ages ago before first DLC but decided to start farming again from beginning ^^

In regards to Topaz i’ve taken an in game screenshot and for some reason it shows different stats than in the Grimtools
topaz

Thanks for the quick reply!

looks exactly the same to me

I’ve woke up today and literally realized it might mean the same with different wording lmao.

Like 10% resistant to stun, not in a way that you have a chance to resist it but it just lasts shorter or has a diminished effect xD

Sorry for that, thought Crate did a sneaky update or something xD

So, it might be time to get back into Grim Dawn for a while, and why not do it with a re-run of a pet build

On my last stint, I was doing a Hardcore run using a retaliation Commando, looking to mop up the hardcore-related achievements. And if I’m not mistaken, got pretty far with it (it’s still alive).

But there must have been a reason why I got a bit tired of it, and I’ve forgotten what the heck I was doing with it.

So now considering starting a fresh hardcore Conjurer, see how far I can get.
If I fail with it, I might then return to the Retal Commando.

So I ripped one conjuer at lvl 25 or so, but then rolled a new one, and she’s now lvl 90.
Almost time to start farming the endgame stuff
Actually, already got myself one of the Bysmiel trinkets a couple of hours ago.

I happened to notice a new build post for patch 1.2.1.6, which got me curious as to what else the patch might be bringing (especially in the pets department).

Reading through the patch notes (which I understand are not necessarily final), it appears that a few of the items from this build are getting a slight nerf (Bysmiel’s Trinket set, Mindweaver, the body armor).

None of the nerfs appear to be earth-shattering though, so I assume this build should be fine, if perhaps deal a bit less damage.

And I highly doubt that it would somehow be de-throned from being the top lazy pet build (with fewest buttons to press on a regular basis).

No real nerf for us in practice :3

Tested vs my favourite training dummy :stuck_out_tongue:
Still a 2 min easy kill. Not as “facetanky” as it once used to be, but as long as you dont get sundered, is easy enough.

SR is a bit risky these days due to plenty of one shots if not careful, but farming 30-31 should not be an issue.

Leveling this build was a refreshing change of pace from the usual button mashing. I just hit level 94 and have a few pieces of the gear ready for the endgame setup.

Thanks again for another solid pet build, and for all the time and effort you put into creating, sharing, and consistently updating your builds to keep them relevant and viable.
