Theorycrafting Dump

If I was to respec my Devotions from my current Warder out of Retaliation + Dryad Constellations, it’s a pretty close mirror to your Markovian of Old build, but I’m not ready to go into that direction just yet.

I’m simply gunning for a half retaliation/half melee damage build that will laugh at melee attacks, but won’t take 30-45 minutes killing a ranged/caster boss. No where near your damage output though, even with Cadence.

Working on one as well our theory-craft is about 85-90% similar even to the eventual gear choices, but we differ a bit on the constellations. Have one parked in Elite because I was worried of how it would perform Late Game damage-wise. However, with the new constellation Ultos, it shouldn’t have a problem resist shredding with wisp combo now. But I agree with you, I just scouted AoM on my Warder to test the waters for my squishier toons. I really don’t think my Druid can get pass Valbury and AoM Elite, much less in Ultimate. Constant pressure high damage in the entire area, with very few options to mitigate.

Bomberman - Ulzuin’s Chosen of the Gildam Arcanum: http://www.grimtools.com/calc/lV7pDXyZ

I probably don’t need to explain this build at all as the title of the build does that well enough.

Auto Attack Elemental Purifier - http://www.grimtools.com/calc/gZwRXplV

There is still some work to be done but I need to level him to 100 first.

http://www.grimtools.com/calc/lNkBdebZ

Based on the jajaja’s Lightning Warden but Elementalist version. Slightly less tanky but it’s DPS and kiting should be brutal.

Just starting ultimate now.

dual-wield 100% vitality Doom-bolter cabalist. Not happy with the final numbers really. Mostly OA/DA.

Plague King’s Might - http://www.grimtools.com/calc/JVlqnm5Z

Makes use of Cold to Acid conversion and Elemental to Acid conversion. Initially it had below par health and OA so I had to shoehorn some % health augments and prefixes for OA on the jewellery in there. Might be better without the Raven though, never tried using it only for the aura on a character without pets.

Bruh… I’m rolling this right now. I swore I’d never roll another demo.

Well played sir.

Plague King’s Might looks fuckin’ sick man. Let me know how that works out.

The Soulblaze Guardian - Tank/Caster Hybrid Defiler http://www.grimtools.com/calc/eZP4w3lZ

Charge in with relic, throw down cocktail/mines in front of you, flashbang/siphon everyone around you, and drain essence until you need to recast something. Procs going off every which way when you get hit. Not anywhere near optimized, but I want to try and make viable, unique builds with Defiler because it seems like the class combo with the least inherent synergy.

Kymon’s Holy Hand Grenade: http://www.grimtools.com/calc/xZyDJ7KV

Nearly 2500% Lightning Damage, 100% crit damage (150% with Grenado), and decent OA/DA/Armor/Resistances. Also has a ton of -% resistances for Elemental and Lightning damage. Possible downsides would be the health, lack of permanent over-capped resistances, and defensive ability that could be a little higher same going for the OA maybe. Runebound Topaz would also be a good addition for more health/DA.

I may try this one out in the future as it looks quite promising - however I’m in the process of a multiplayer character and my Bomberman build which is in the works. However I usually make a ton of alternate characters so maybe I’ll get to this one soon - though getting to ultimate and the gear shown may be difficult.

Does the Holy Hand Grenade come with instructions?

Ravenous Reaper: http://www.grimtools.com/calc/q2MAvlW2

This build should be able to cover the whole screen in bile and filth.
Sadly Ravenous Earth is the only Poison/Vitality damaging spell with these masteries.
exchanging Basilisk mark with basilisk crest could give a second cheap spell in form of acid Ring of steel.
The Cabalist Version is supposedly stronger, but dualwielding Bonespikes seemed too apealing. Nightblade also gives CC with bladetrap and poison resist reduction.

Thank you for sharing that Commando build DeMasked. I have a few abandoned Commandos that needed reworked. I like your idea.

Yes

Brother: "And the Lord spake, saying, First shalt
thou take out the Holy Pin.

Then, shalt thou count to three, no more,
           no less.

Three shalt be the number thou shalt
count, and the number of the counting
          shalt be three.

          Four shalt thou not count,
nor either count thou two, excepting that
          thou then proceed to three.

          Five is right out.

          Once the number three,
being the third number, be reached, then
lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of
Antioch towards thy foe, who being
naughty in my sight, shall snuf it."

Maynard: Amen.

      All: Amen.

Arthur: Right! One. . . two. . . five!

Early leveling with any build I would run through Lower Crossing getting Hevill’s Greatsword or another of the guaranteed rare drops. Get all the Lore including the one at Hargates + the one in Devil’s Crossing (you can get it without entering the prison itself right at the start) and generally killing enemies as you go saving those at Hargate’s for last as they are usually a bit higher level.

Then switch to Crucible and, using Devouring Swarm or building up to Canister Bomb, do wave 1-10 a bunch of times until you get 10 Devotion Points. This makes it far easier to gain access to Devotion procs earlier while also giving great experience and items for early leveling.

As for the build itself (Kymon’s Holy Hand Grenade) my only concern may be that it’s AoE could be lacking depending on how good Hand of Ultos proc would be. I also forgot to mention the whole “% chance of % physical/lightning damage” that is also prevalent when it comes to Tempest, High Impact, and Stormcaller’s Pact. In any case it would be safe to say that you could see some decent numbers from Grenado though the skill line isn’t too high beyond it’s initial skill limit - though itemization could be messed around a bit for sure.

Just something I am fiddling with right now.

Surprisingly tanky…

http://www.grimtools.com/calc/gZwRypJV

So… I have a counter argument to your ‘no chaos support’ build. I have a build that is a melee chaos tank that I have had since before the expansion. They have items like the Eldritch Gaze and Mythical Obsidian Juggernaut. Just those two items alone makes a melee build for chaos possible.

If he puts falcon swoop in the build would that mean swallows are dropping the holy armaments?

And if so, does that mean the holy hand grenade weighs about as much as a coconut?

Poison Petmancer: http://www.grimtools.com/calc/d2jBmMx2

Making use of Blighted Rift Scourge, Bysmiel’s Command pet, Blight Fiend combined with Blood of Dreeg and lots of poison Devotion Procs. Rather bad Aether/Chaos resistance so potions may be needed.

I call your Cabalist and raise you a Blademaster:

http://www.grimtools.com/calc/RVvPv7pN

This build stacks all of the best %Avoid items and makes the best use of a Cold Nightblade as Eel and Murmur add additional %Avoid. 24% to fumble using Ring of Steel + Circle of Slaughter and over 45% dodge with just Shadow Dance alone. Combine that with Wraithwalkers and Belgothian’s Sigil and you have up to 95% dodge rate, on top of a 2730 DA before Chariot proc.

This build shouldn’t be a slouch on the offensive side either, reaching 3.2K OA and 24/16 Shadow Strike with 21/12 Nightfall as well as sporting roughly 100% Cold RR shred between Elemental Storm, Rumors, Night’s Chill, and Reaper’s Mark. I’ve never played a Nightblade before, so I’m sure people here can take this concept and improve on the Devotions and skills set-up for a more optimized build. Soldier class is merely there for a few passives and Physique bump, this is as close to a pure Nightblade as one can get.

It goes without saying that along with the Deathmarked set, this build also sports the greatest of pants.

It’s been quite a long time since any dead build concepts were posted here so I’ll add some recent ones of my own to see if it can get any new life.

Lightning Trauma Warder
Was still messing around with gearing and MIs but here’s something.

It’s a Trauma Warder that makes use of Avenger’s Crusher’s conversion to make Storm Surge another source of Trauma, as well as the Lightning proc on the gloves. Other sources are Blade Arc, Doomforce, Cadence as a weapon multiplier, Bull Rush, Blind Fury. Could even work others like Ground Slam in but there’s too many keys for me to manage by this point

Reflection shouldn’t be much of an issue as the build sports 50% Reflected damage reduction from Owl, Solemn Watcher and M. Sigil of the Bear King.
Jaxxon’s Lucky Shotgun (Work in progress)
So, when anyone tried a ranged Inquisitor and it’s WPSes, everyone no doubt loved Storm Spread. I know I did. When I saw Jaxxon’s Lucky Bullet, I thought it used the same template that Storm Spread did.

The initial idea then was to convert most of Storm Spread’s damage to Pierce and utilise a pair of Lucky Bullet’s for a total of 44% shotgun WPSes.

The idea died when I got my hands on one and gave it a try, was rather disappointed with the proc, thus I never got far with making a proper grimtools for it :p
