TitanQuest.net Site

Happy Bday Bumbleguppy!

Quick update:

So I learned that all the .temp files I’ve downloaded won’t be useable if the site goes down before HTTrack finishes. Apparently “Canceling” will force the tracker to complete pending transfers and rename the .temp files.

I was at 33.74gb downloaded with 55395 links scanned out of 327929 found with 147 errors before I canceled. It’s been “canceling” for 26 hours and I’m now down to 18.69gb downloaded with 312612 links scanned out of 327671 found. Apparently a nearly half of the 33+gb I’d downloaded / cached were duplicates or otherwise unusable. I expect it to finish up in a few hours.

In my quick tests, the first few pages of every thread has been backed up correctly with some threads saving all pages. I’ll share a link with everyone once it finishes.

I have a follow up call tomorrow to negotiate price. Let’s hope we can come to an agreement that keeps the site up permanently!

@Kreisher

Ok… so this is where I stand right now with my mirroring…

Are you saying it is better for me to cancel the transfer? Or should I keep going as long as possible? I’m more worried about hitting the million links and have it stop on me then…

Oh… and good luck with your negotiations.

I would cancel now and allow it to complete pending transfers. You are a lot further along than I was which hopefully means you have a much more complete version of the site. Be sure to only hit the cancel button ONCE. When it asks you if you want to “Stop WinHTTrack?”, select yes. Then let it do it’s thing. Clicking cancel a second time (while it’s completing pending transfers), will shut down the program and you’ll be stuck with 500k+ .temp files.

In other news, the negotiation call got pushed back again. The guy I’m speaking with left the office early, which is fine by me as it gives you another day to finish your downloads.

Hey all.

I finished uploading my backup of TQ.net and have a link to share for anyone interested in downloading it. The uncompressed the folder is 22.7gb, and the archive is 3.37gb. Father Squid’s backup will likely be more complete, so you may want to wait until his finishes up. Here’s the properties of the uncompressed folder:

IMPORTANT NOTE: I strongly recommend you make sure you hard drive’s cluster allocation size is 4kb or smaller before you unpack the file. If you use NTFS then you’re probably fine. However, if you try and uncompress this on a drive with cluster allocation larger than 4k it will take up 100+gb of disk space! For example: The default allocation size for ExFat is 128k, which means the uncompressed folder would take up around 600gb of disk space!

For reference, here’s the default allocation sizes for Windows: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/140365

If you are interest in a download link please PM me.

EDITED: Fixed broken image link

Holy SHIT, it’s back up!!

Great job guys!!!

Well, could be temporary so make the most of it while you can. Negotiations are ongoing, but whether Kreisher will get a favourable outcome remains to be seen. Just keep all them fingers crossed okay!

Glad to see it’s up again! Hope something gets worked out where it gets to stay up!

Am I the only one for whom the site is painfully slow? I keep losing patience and giving up on using it.

Nope. Painfully slow is accurate for me.

Um, fine for me using a Win7 machine. Hasn’t been slow at all.

Yeah, no speed problems whatsoever over the last days and weeks for me.

Welcome, SoulSeekkor, lqdhorror and rakshir to our humble exile thread

Hmm. I really need to figure out if there’s something I can do to fix the problem. It’s only been since the site went away and came back but it’s been constant since then. It’s keeping me from using the site. No other sites are slow for me at all. I’m on Windows 10. Jiaco, what operating system are you using btw?

Just remember, tq is a gateway drug to gd. You are alrady at your final destination. Let it go.

(Win7 till death do us part. Chrome. 64 bit. Not updated since 6 months maybe. I blame The Fairies Wear Boots.mp3 I have, you have that tune?)

Checked right now. Browsing speed is as good as here, so no problems.

Each page takes around 20 seconds to load for me regardless of which browser I use (Chrome, IE). It’s been this way since before the site went kaput months ago. I’m running Win 8.1 and live in MST time zone in the USA. I have no idea why it’s glacially slow for me and normal for others in different countries. Makes it rather awkward as I’m a moderator there…

Must be your laid back attitude defboy99.

Windows 10, USA, with Chrome 64-bit here with no loading issues. Also just updated from version 51 to 52 and still works fine…does take a few seconds to resolve the host initially, but after that it’s solid.

I’m an admin there, but damned if I can get in though, and the password reset doesn’t work.

When it first came back, it was extremely slow for me. Now it’s not too bad since I’d say 10 seconds max for a page to load. I didn’t really change anything so I don’t know why it got faster all of the sudden. Windows 7.

Never really had any longer loading times than before (maybe once or twice on the original url resolution of the forum). GNU/Linux 4.6.4 x86_64 with Firefox 47 (user agent changed to Win 7).

When I’m trying to reach the site, it gives me a white site with a text saying “no site configured at this adress”.

Worked fine for me a few days ago.
