I’m doing pretty fine on veteran, it was just these two bosses that pissed me off. Mobs and heroes are not a big deal for my build.
I have followed your advice and took Bull Rush, and it’s a nice addition to my Savagery, since Savagery isn’t an area of effect skill. I have switched from Veteran to Normal, and went for Gutworm The Maneater. He fell down in less than 15 seconds. My character is powerful in Veteran, but insane in Normal: http://grimcalc.com/build/1008-wZITVY https://s23.postimg.org/q95b3kt9n/image.jpg
I went for the entire Bull Rush constellation attached to Savagery. I assume the skill will level up itself as it gains experience, right? And I assume Spear Of The Heavens doesn’t need to be applied to any skill since it activates when I get hit, right?
Don’t worry about my build, I’m doing just fine. Had I tried to face Warden and Gutworm in Normal instead of Veteran this post wouldn’t have happened.
You just need experience beating them (as you are gaining now in Normal) to gain confidence and a better sense of the tactics they employ and how to handle them properly. One day you may look back and wonder why you ever thought it was hard in Veteran.
It is a bit harder, surely, but once you know how to approach the problem the difficulty fades away.
Dude it was only two bosses, stop making me look like I’m struggling through the entire Veteran. Since I’m addicted to Veteran I’m not gonna be able to enjoy playing Normal. I’ll only go Normal while facing Gutworm and Warden while low level, and when I get better equipment I’ll face them in Veteran too.
And now you are over reacting. Read what I wrote. Not what you imagined I wrote. At no point did I suggest you were struggling thru the entirety. I clearly was referring to your boss issues.
It isn’t about better equipment (tho it certainly helps, at this point in the game it is not a requirement). It’s about knowing how to handle them. Nothing more.
I did , crap gear , never played on normal on any of my chars , I think it says for people who have never played ARPG’s before , so I thought , that’s not me then and started on Vet , I believe my first char was primal strike build using the transmuter . And any other chars that were made early on , never died to him . Just make sure you are using augments etc , don’t save them for a rainy day .
Gutworm was different , died before I knew what hit me
Gutworm is hard/easy depending on your build. I try and fight him with every new HC character the moment I reach his cavern (Smuggler’s Basin or something?), and the first time my HC character got wrecked. Last time I faced him it was on my vitality caster and absolutely destroyed Gutworm without the slightest effort.
Just be prepared and have bleed resist. Kite his abilities where you can see the wind-up animations and when he (inevitably) stuns you, pop a health potion to make sure you can live through the stun.
Really? I quite like the Turtle, it’s helpful early so you don’t randomly die (though the ability falls off quite hard later). Though I am quite new and I might be a bit misled here, it doesn’t seem bad at all.
Do not hear him, he throwing shit on Turtle everywhere, it good any time, when you do not want to die instantly and give you 1-2 sec to react, especially on HC.
Lol okay. I guess you don’t want people to be creative at all when building defenses
You’re english seems fine to me
It indeed does give you 1-2 seconds to react but usually all that can be avoided by stacking defenses and paying attention
In Normal/Veteran just build your basic resistances, know when to disengage and you’re good to go
Later on in the game that proc is just useless and a waste of devotion points. Most of the things that kill you do way more damage than it can absorb.
If you wan’t a real devotion to help you early game then i recommend Behemoth. I usually rush it on builds that are prone to dying a lot early in the game
Another leveling tip i could give out is using component skill - Fireblast Granted by Item Searing Ember and Greater Fireblast granted by Flintcore Bolts
These two skills can take you all the way till Homestead after which you need real skills
Thank you.
You say “Be creative” right? And stack defense other ways?
I have an example. I got a commando, warborn S&B commando with following stats: OA ~2500, DA ~2150, HP ~ 11.5k, dps without procs ~40k, with procs 80k+, all resistances capped except aether, chaos and stun (around 30-50%), also i got ~500 hp/sec regen and 4% life steal and ~1900 armor with 90% absorb, 35 phys res also. Pretty standart stats, he can facetank anything except Mad Queen (coz i am too scary to fight vs her on HC), he can rush in any BoC’s room with little attention etc etc etc.
Ysterday i respec him to 2H Brimstone firestrike melee with following stats: OA ~2600 DA ~2400, HP ~14k, dps ~50k, same armor, all res capped except chaos aether and stun (chaos on 66% afaik), same armor, 400 reg/sec, 12%phys res. Also i changed build more on demo then on soldier, so i can equip 12/12 flashbang with 12/12 searing light and more fat blastshield. And you know what? He cant do anything, compared with S&B, he even can’t facetank poor Moosilauke. So, what more defence i should stack on this commando, except grabbing S&B again? Go for ToL line and abaddon Torch, Magi and all other green/red stuff? How more DA, regen, HP, armor and res i need to be able, at least, do not running from trash mobs in BoC drinking my potions like crazy man?
Sorry for long post and my english.
I am new to this game and managed to kill the warden with hit and run. On the contrary to what you have mentioned, he does have a pattern. After charging you, he will do a close range stun attack. If you keep moving, he will miss his attack and you will have a window to attack him. If you are very squishy, unfortunately this is the only window timing to attack him. Otherwise he will stun you with his aetherial attack or shoot you down with his bullshit arrow.
I saw you mention getting spear of the heavens I think on page 4 or 5 and asking if it did not need to be attached to a skill since it’s an on hit proc. You still need to attach it to a skill (it will be on activated auras like mogrogans pact).
Some people say the constellation is bad for a tier III constellation but I personally love it.
