I actually doubt that more than anything. TQ is already old, they fucked up Ragnarok and managed to “compensate” for that with Atlantis. So I bet they’re rather scared to make TQ2 because they MAY fuck up hard making it. I’d guess they’d rather make another game, basing on TQ but being completely different because they will be allowed to make a new climate and not really try to replicate the TQ climate. Making a new TQ(2) would still require them to hold on to the old climate, which would be extremely hard.
I’ve been playing Atlantis for several days now, and almost finished. It runs butter smooth, and I haven’t noticed any bugs or instability. My only complaint so far is the drop rates aren’t very good in normal. But that is a fault of the base game itself. My next run through in elite should have some better stuff.
Atlantis is not a huge expansion, but I am enjoying it very much. And the improvements it brings to the entire game will have me doing another play-through soon as I’m done with Atlantis.
You should try it; you’re only cheating yourself by staying away from it…
TQ2 is already there - it’s named “Grim Dawn”.
that reassures me. i’ll try atlantis soon after reading the changelogs. i don’t remember whether the drop rates get better or not with harder difficulties in tq. atlantis’ end game content is what tq need after all these years. at this point, i think thq nordic and pieces interactive should focus on making small addons like atlantis. that way they’ll get a lot of small expansions that would enhance the charms of tq world.
that reminds me, atlantis is poseidon’s territory. so basically its greek story all over again (immortal throne focus heavily on greeks). i can imagine the next region will feature another greek god/titan.
I also played Atlantis few times, and I’d really recommend it, even ignoring the improvements in gameplay. The areas are nice, enemies look cool and in general it’s like you’d have -1000% entrapment resist. I literally replayed it with 3 characters one by one, then tried the Tartarus thing and ran through Atlantis two more times with two other characters.
Me recommend very much.
Really? Considering the cost it would be fair to compare with FG expansion
:
Especially nice looking item art in the inventory
I think Atlantis was sponsored by Disney Co
I disagree with that. Imo, TQ has way better looking areas. GD desert is just empty, it only has some bushes, huge and boring ruins, few caves, while TQ had Pyramids, ruins (which were not too interesting but I liked them way more) and you felt like it’s a desert. GD desert just feels like a super dry place where it hasn’t been raining for a very long ass time. I remember seeing more cracked earth than sand, so I’d rather call GD desert a “dry land” rather than a desert.
I am talking about Atlantis specifically and thq nordic as a whole. Their expansions could be considered only as fan-made mods(and not the brightest ones) and be shipped for free as such.
They are trying to compete with GD : one-shot style in TQ? Lets add hp like in GD. No end game Gladiator? lets add Tartarus, and so on, while doing it very poorly: “crate has no money for outstanding artists and designers, we won’t bother either - hire some mom, who draws for her numerous children and will share some pics for our atlantis mod as well”
While people wanting an AAA product like original TQ was.
To my greatest disappointment, it is not. Its not even step over TQ, like many people are declaring.
To Answer the OP… it is the combat and lack of an illusionist. I couldn’t stand looking at my TQ characters and the more I optimized them the worse their look, and I’ve grown too used to the more fluidic style of Grim Dawn. The old school need to reclick on each enemy got old fast.
I must thank everyone for answering my question, the main line in all answers is similar and I think, I have completed making my opinion on GD.
May the goddess Hera blesses all of you
Huh? Never had to do that once I learnt I could just move the cursor from foe to foe. Did it in TQIT and still do it in AE.
I was just pressing shift time to time to swap targets. When I picked GD, I learned to use the TQ mechanic where you had to click again on another enemy to keep on attacking, and I used the thing where you could just hold and move mouse. Don’t ask me how that happened.
Dude, why all the hate for Titan Quest finally getting shown some love again after all these years? It’s wonderful that the game is getting support again. THQ gave FREE copies of Anniversary Edition to anyone already owning the game on Steam. No one made them do that.
But when they started releasing new expansions, you think they should give those away for free as well? Please. Luckily, a great many of us don’t share your opinion. I for one am very happy about the improvements, and gladly supported Nordic by picking up both expansions. I personally did not like the Ragnarok setting (Vikings don’t belong in a game about Ancient Greece), but I got it anyway to help support future development.
And that support was borne out by their recent release of Atlantis.
I think they did a very respectable job for this small quality of life expansion to the game. I liked the levels, the enemies were interesting, and the artwork was hardly done by “some mom for her kids”.
The Tartarus dungeon was IMO also a nice little addition that they didn’t have to do. I also liked that they returned to the Ancient Greek roots of the game, and hope that any future expansions do that as well. And all the other QOL additions like DX11, ambient occlusion and small gameplay improvements were much appreciated. Even the little thing of allowing you to select between any of the TQ menu screens was awesome; I’ve been wanting the original TQ menu back for years.
Looking forward to TQ2 also, and will be interested to see what they do with it. With all the new GD and TQ content this is a good time for ARPG gaming; everybody wins…
To be fair tho he does have a point with the artwork shown here:
Regrettably he instead focuses on what appears to be some bullshit glitch in the inventory when he SHOULD have put a big RED circle around that ugly ass enemy in that TQ pic. Just look at that crap artwork on that enemy model! Now look at GD’s above it. Ugh. I’m not even usually an art snob but woah…
It’s great and all that they’re “showing TQ love” after all these years yada yada. I’m slightly of the opinion tho they shoulda just left it alone altogether after seeing the artwork. TQ was doing just fine with the fan patch and the mods.
tq’s enemies has smoooooooth textures. gd’s enemies have gritty, rough and darkish textures. its a core difference in its design. and gd’s engine is superior anyway.
Why all the hate for Titan Quest finally getting shown some love again after all these years
Because I see no love at all, only nordic greed in an attempt to milk money from the fans. It reminds me of Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition. And I do not understand the excitement of people like you
to help support future development
Crate could make something new, they have proven that they are capable of creating high-quality content, nordic has proven the opposite.

I have shown screenshots. I am missing a good ARPG by myself, but this is not the reason to close my eyes and accept some poor quality fakes.
e instead focuses on what appears to be some bullshit glitch in the inventory
It is a good example of their “love” - bugs over bugs with a shitload of bugs…

Ain’t nothing smooth about that enemy model there. It looks like pure ass. Vanilla TQ looks better than whatever that is.
Sweet baby Jesus. Save us.

lulz. what i meant by smooth is smooth like barren plains. like there’s little variation in the textures. there are some enemies with varied textures in tq however. but i still consider tq’s model textures are mostly smooth like newborn babies (is that the same thing as barren plains?).
