Foreword

It looks like cat is out of the bag and Sigil Spam builds are okay with Crate or maybe it changes in the next patch. Either way, wanted to share this spec that I made for our current top20 testing. In memory of one legendary build, 6 years later I give you…

Conjuring another dark q&a

Is this even legal?
Maybe!
Why focus so much on dot damage if your main damage is Sigil spam?
Helps a lot with aoe clear. Allows you to run thru trash in SR 30-31 and leave them die to your dots.
Gear seems expensive. Two Basti rings and cdr prefix on this shield…
More about it in Gear section!

Gear/skills/devotions/levelling

Every item in this build except for boots and pants are basically set in stone. Endgame gear is not cheap, two Basti rings will take some time to farm out (good news is that you don’t really care about conversion rolls on them) and Vampiric Bonewall has low odds of dropping Supercharged or Chronomancer’s prefix. In fact according to Modal’s tool, chance of dropping Vampiric Bonewall with Supercharged/Chronomancer’s prefix and any affix is ~0.64%, so roughly one in 156 drops. Good news is build works without this prefix, I tested it. However I do recommend farming out a shield that has cdr prefix on it. Other green affixes are pretty fluid, but you need to roll Slow resist somewhere.

Skill distribution is pretty straightforward, devotions have dot focus to help with aoe clear.

This is the endgame build. It works as advertised once you equip required gear at character level 100 and repeat my grimtools as close as possible. For levelling/beginner guide check beginner/levelling guides on this forum

Gameplay

In SR 30-31 and Crucible you can facetank most of the stuff but watch out for Null debuffers - those can ruin your day.

Ravager of Flesh can be fully facetanked if you use three (!) Soul Shards in rings/amulet/medal, otherwise you need to jump out of his Energy Leech pools. Callagadra requires sunder dodging after her enrage. Watch videos to learn how to play the build.

Stats

General with Blood of Dreeg

Videos

Ravager of Flesh 38 seconds kill

SR 30-31 4:15 run

Callagadra 45 seconds kill

SR 36 3:36 run

In conclusion

Long live the Dark One and tune in for our new top20 that is coming soon!

Nice one, it is so fun to almost “channel” SoC’s

But why the reference to expensive/cheap? Is trade a thing in this game?

Wow thank you so much for this I needed it

I was really thinking about you when I was making it!

Trade is a thing (there is even a trade thread here on forums). I mean rare/common, just using old arpg terms I got from D2.

Thanks for the build! May I ask where I can find this Modal’s Tool? Google does not help.

It’s here!

Also updated guide’s picture with the amazing gif from @Maska322!

Despite you note its not mandatory, its quite a relief the prefix drops around 1/150. Should be close!

Once upon a time, people were so obsessed with the powerful pet conjurer that they refused to play any other class. So the developers completely nerfed the pet conjurer to death. And now, because of you, a warrior-conjurer frenzy is about to explode.

not to sidetrack from the build discussion but that maska gif is just the best. maybe he can do the intro cinematic for fangs?

Yep, just few fun hours in Mountain Deeps!

Same story can be applied to that Dark One Conjurer I made years ago. After I released it it was nerfed a lot too.

I hope Crate recognizes his talent and hires him: we do need good cinematics for FoA!

I made my account just to say that the gif for this build was amazing and made me laugh. I hope this community always stays as awesome as it is.

The GIF is better than all Blizzard Diablo games cut-scenes combined

I have a feeling that this build and generally items with “-flat time” reduction will be nerfed next patch. Same as the ridiculous -2.5s of Aegis of mehnir conduit.

i don’t see why all flat reducts would be nerfed, and spam aegis is one thing that enables a different playstyle from cd aegis, aside from cdr specifically having existed/been allowed for years
in this case the community outright suggested to nerf the new cdr mod on amulet, because it might be a bit much with the other effects, not that “spam”/pseudo spam sigils was meant to go away completely, but more like target dmg nerfed while not impacting other “spam” sigil dmg type builds the same.

At first I have even suggested to nerf it. But after testing it in the context of our upcoming top20 and realising that this build might not even make it top10, I think maybe it’s not* as busted as we thought it was. First of all, setup is pretty “expensive” (double Basti ring + uncommon shield prefix), then it’s a bit limited by lack of mobility (similiar Sentinel that has mobility actually lacks firepower compared to this Conj) and erratic monsters behavior that tend to step out of your Sigils stack a lot. And of course the ramp up.

If you remove the flat cd you gonna remove a whole playstyle from the game. If anything I would maybe remove extra adtch Vampiric Bonewall gives and maybe nerf flat bonus from the medal a bit. But mostly I would look at Sigils sets like Valguur and look for ways to buff Sigils part there.

dunno, balance seems to be in a good spot, @mad_lee and others do some crazy builds so what. spam aegis has been nerfed plenty, see version changes on grimtools.

  • In the same patch Aegis skill itself was buffed so this was probably to avoid making Chaos Sent with this conduit even stronger. Although it hit Pierce spam as well.

    • I think it’s fine when these builds are strong because they are harder to figure out. I cannot imagine a new player using Pierce conduit with retal or Voidsoul on their own.
  • Maska should do in-game tutorials for Crate like showing that devotions can sustain themselves which has to be constantly explained on the forum. Some other old tutorials by him like using Health potion when on Aether Ground or avoiding nullification could be used as well

  • nice build and optimization of course :+1:

I think it unlikely flat CD reductions have the :zantai: coming for them, and I also think this build isn’t doing anything too egregious by the standards of our beloved T0X1C G4M3RZ.

Having said that, if this build needed to be nerfed, I have already mentioned months ago how I would do so. :stuck_out_tongue:

Little video of SR 36 clear. Need to thread very carefully there:

Very nice. Is SR38-40 manageable, even with one death per run?

I have found that almost every build needs to be tuned and make DPS sacrifice trade-offs in favor of tankiness, in order to delve from SR36 into SR38+ territory. In other words, maybe builds capable of sub-4:30 SR30-31 are mostly unable to perform no-death SR38+.

Or maybe such SR38+ targets are outside of your scope (and top20 SC builds in general).
