Hello GD community. Long time lurker, first time poster. Newer player but I’ve clocked close to 1k hours since I started playing in…April? I know, I have issues. But this is my jam now. Played lots of other ARPG’s but they are all kinda meh currently. Just sad that I didn’t know that GD game was a thing way before now.
Anywho…enough about me. I love playing Shaman classes, have since early EQ years ago, and Primal Strike Warder has been my go to in GD for reasons. Just too much fun to play. Have tried a few builds but all still leveling, gearing and getting to end game farm game play. HC only for all, it’s all I ever play.
But I digress. This game has so many cool features and the community seems really incredible and helpful.
As an idiot new’ish to GD player I was wondering - can I bind Aether Crystals to proc when shit goes south? Like a macro or item use keybind or for when I hit a certain health % maybe? Less keybind, more auto save type of thing.
I am on my (lost count…maybe 10th) Warder, only gotten one to level 100 and he was cruising ultimate like a boss before I died to being dumb. Just looking for a backup ‘o shit’ despite rolling pretty tanky. Any help here would be appreciated, thanks everyone.
Only with game hacking / cheat engine (or analyzing pixels of the screen but that’s even more difficult / not worth it). Although not particularly difficult, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it done. Macros / keybinds / AutoHotkey etc don’t know your current HP level.
If I were you, I’d import your build to Grim Tools instead and let others improve it so that it’s better for HC. Auto cluster would be super cheesy, the “what’s the point of playing HC like that” territory.
If you’re looking for some extra safety, I’d suggest picking up the Tortoise Devotion. I take it in all my HC builds and it’s saved me more times than I can count.
IMO, heavy regen (I assume, since you’re playing Warder) is a crutch that can cover for massive holes in your build and works right up until it doesn’t.
I agree with TqFan, if you’re cheating to play Hardcore, I think you’ve maybe missed the point of a Hardcore mode. Especially when there are dozens of ways to have circuit breakers, or automatic death-save type effects without having to resort to auto-Cluster.
3 that feature fairly regularly in my builds are Prismatic Diamond (helmet component, available at level 55), Ghoul (devotion proc, useful for auto-attackers and some casters that have weapon damage on their spells), and Tortoise (devotion proc, good for literally every build ever). You’ve also got Menhir’s Will (Soldier skill), Blast Shield (Demolitionist), and technically Arcane Will (Arcanist) and Resilience (Oathkeeper).
If that isn’t enough, you’ve got a lot of items that have various types of effects trigger when you get low on health.
It’s up to you to notice these effects triggering and decide if you need to back off.
I am not looking to cheat, far from it. I just wasn’t sure if there was a way to have an auto shield wall of sorts via aether cluster without something akin to a hack and…right, I can see where that would look like a cheat. So thank you for pointing that out.
I fully understand the concept of HC as well, thank you @Paikis. I’m a big fan of the grind, leveling new characters is fun for me. If I die and lose a few dozen hero’s on the way, great. Learning experience and all. I plan to be here awhile.
And thank you for the Tortoise suggestion, @maimu_chan, I probably need to give that a deeper look.
The really issue with my multiple deaths have been tied to ignorance. Standing in bad, running rogues too early, no boss mechanics and fight knowledge. The usual. All stuff I will improve upon, hopefully.
My leveling builds are solid for the most part. Resists are capped, solid sustain. Stuff dies fast. I appreciate the feedback, thanks all. Happy hunting.
Hi! I want to show you something as reference, the last character i’ve used to 100% the game, HC included. It is far from optimized, slow dps but VERY safe, forgiving and lazy playstyle Elementalist, Level 100 (GD 1.2.1.6) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator. Looking at the link you can see the lack of optimization, but what i wanted to show you is the build, because a good build can really carry you and even balance bad optimization.
