If so, I’ve had one of these a LONG time ago. Basically a Mage Hunter using Mythical tome of the arcane wastes for its main attack. That was my first build that *almost * made it
I can probably remake it much better now.
what a fun little project. I have an Allgast Magehunter that is a certified DDD. Would be cool to get it on this list of yours. The Build is definitely biased towards aether damage but it confirms to your 4 criteria with a approx. 70/30 aether/lightning split:
Glad you like it! Feel free to post a quick write-up so I can link it in the Build Index. I suggested this format in the OP, but feel free to post how you like.
Just make sure to make a sweet Fashion Dawn to show off your character. #GetYourFlairOn!
Pictures don’t really tell the whole story of a build. Conventional wisdom opts for 4pc Invoker set and Panetti’s Wand, but my variant of the build swaps raw damage for better leech and % Weapon Damage scaling. It’s likely this % WD doesn’t make up for the lack of raw damage from Invoker mods/Panetti Wand even with Ignaffar relic (which comes with RR!) instead of an Arcanist relic, but it feels a lot cozier. And because we’re using a Pistol, we get access to Hydra in Devotion to boost our movespeed to 141%, which feels great!
With RR added to Distortion, winds up with ~120% Fire RR and ~130% Lightning RR with a clean split between the two. Cold RR is sub-100%, but still decent. We also get more ranks in Inquisitor skills from our item choices, making our Seal sturdier and our Censure more disruptive.
TL;DR sacrifice a bit of damage for significantly higher QoL, including better leech and more health/da/armor than conventional setups. Tested successfully and painlessly in SR30-31 (on playtest patch, with scrunched SR scaling) and it was quite fun all around.
Build is not Energy-neutral and does take an energy potion roughly once every SR shard. Could take points out of Nulli to squeeze more damage via IEE, but lower Nulli cooldown leans into the QoL-ness of the build and helps counter Sunder.
Build Comment: In celebration of @ceno (the resident Cadence Master of the GD forum community) posting a DDD Build, I just dreamed up and slapped together this absolute unit of a character. Continuing in the footsteps of my previous Warhammer 40k DDD Build (Sanguinius the Great Angel), this one just fits a Grey Knight Daemonhunter perfectly! The grey and gold armor from the Justicar Guard Set and the perfectly matching look from a Steward’s Halberd combined with the Inquisitor’s Seal, Aura of Censure and the Inquisitor class itself rounds out the Grey Knight theme.
Overall the build plays smoothly and has only a few buttons to use in active combat. The 2 second CD Inquisitor Seal proves helpful for absorbing incoming damage while it BURNS THE HERETIC! Aether /Elemental Cadence with all the buffs slaps pretty hard, especially with the high OA/Crit Damage. Discord and the Item Modifiers work in opposite directions while applying juicy flat damage for both damage types. The TDM, added 3 targets, attack arc and ADCtH bonuses to spread the Cadence love to the Heretics and Abominations. Here are all those sweet modifiers applied to Cadence:
Note: Cadence with these modifiers does not hit as hard as it could since Tactician is a single -RR% class combo.
To aid in balancing the damage, the use of the Magelord Set counteracts the global conversion from the Scion of Arcane Force nice and evenly to make the procs either split their damage into both forms or to swap and maintain what damage they already have. Arcane Currents and Elemental Seekers help to fatten the DPS of the character perfectly.
I hope you enjoy this character as much as I did making it!
LET US CLEANSE CAIRN OF THE AETHERIAL, CH’THONIC AND ELDRITCH ABOMINATIONS!
I thought about this a lot since I posted yesterday and I have come to the conclusion that I was wrong in saying Elemental would be DDD-worthy. I think for the skills that Elemental specifically plays an active roll in it is considered to be a singular damage type. I see it as a singular damage type when it is listed as a whole damage type and not each separate component of Fire, Cold, or Lightning. GD will list it as “Elemental” on items or skills such as PRM, TSS converted by Iskandra’s Unification, Cadence transmuted by Discord, or Forcewave by Arcanor, Blade of the Luminari (among others I’m missing at the moment). Since the game lists it in this fashion, I have come to the conclusion that I was wrong in my initial assessment.
Elemental Damage taunting me earlier today:
From now on, Elemental will be considered a single damage type and will need to be paired with another damage type to have enough #Flair to be a part of this DDD Digest. I apologize for the confusion, but I wanted to clarify and to relay my thinking on this. As such I have included an Aether/Elemental DDD Build above this post as an example of what is possible.
Other DDD Elemental Damage types that will work (however rarely, if at all) are:
Elemental/Piercing
Elemental/Vitality
Elemental/Chaos.
These are pretty rare and tough to build with, but I think that’s what will make them worthy of the DDD Digest #Flair!
The build strategy is throw everything until everyone dies and burned. I usually use transmuted BWC but this time it’s the spam version with 200% casting speed. Energy regen and consumption is almost equal, and usually need to use the energy potion everytime it off cooldown, if only BWC could leech energy or it has 50 more energy regen, the gameplay would be much smoother.
I stop at shard 33 simply due to the boss hp is too much for my energy to replenish. But I can say this build is safe enough to farm at shard 30 now within the time limit. What surprise me the most is Kaisan, Reaper, Grava, and shattered sentinel is not that much of an issue, but Fabius is, don’t know why.
I’m curious if you’ve ever tried a Aether/Chaos DDD? Codex of Lies and Twilight’s Veil seem so perfect for it that I threw together a theory craft mage hunter in grimtools some time ago, but I never got around to trying anything.
Definitely, one is even listed in my previous builds in the OP.
I just checked my list and I have 10 theorycrafted Aether/Chaos builds. They are pretty varied and use all kinds of skills. I’ll post a couple closer to (because of the color combo! )
Finish out the theorycraft and post it up!
Edit: And don’t worry about posting a build that’s similar to what somebody else has done. There are so many ways to craft builds in GD and not everyone likes the same skills… like my absolutely hatred for Storm Box of Elgoloth. That skill can definitely die an agonizing death.
Ahh, I missed that since I didn’t see a Aether/Chaos category under the index. Your old builds devotion map is almost identical to my theorycraft! Here is that old theorycraft I mentioned.
Very nice indeed! This is a certifiable DDD Build right here with the split Damage conversions as well as the damage balance with converting Aether to Chaos with the shoulders. /chefskiss Wooo!
One little change I would suggest it to remove all the Spirit points and do a massive Cunning dump to really ramp up that OA. You’re missing out on that so sweet and juicy +122% Crit Damage on AAR. Losing about +300% Damage should be more than made up for with a gain of about +400 OA.
#GetYourFlairOn by making a Fashion Dawn to go with it and make a nice little write-up (if you have the time) and I’ll add it to the Build Index.
I just remember doing a physical/bleeding BA Warlord. Since bleeding is just a DoT damage, you need to mix it anyway with some direct damage, usually physical, but some builds use pierce or vitality. But this build tries to equally distributes its damage between physical and bleeding, more precisely bleeding and trauma for sweet Blade Arc’s double DoT.
