Playtest Rainbow filters will be uploaded on the Filter Files repo:
I am seeing red prefixed common items drop with prefixes like Bent, Shattered, Broken or Tagnotfound. I have filtered out common items from showing but these items show for a second then disappear. I cannot pick them up. I used both the Tool and Full Rainbow 1.2.1.3 and they both have this same problem.
Those are quality tags and probably added after I stopped bothering with those type of tags, since they are not colored by Rainbow. The tagnotfound shouldn’t happen with updated files, you might have old files in the other settings folder.
The quality/style tags dont change the rarity so your game filter setting is working as intended.
By other settings folder do you mean "\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Grim Dawn\settings"? My game has been recently installed and I did not put anything in this folder.
Yes, however, I just realized you are the same person that linked to an old modding post of mine regarding drops. If you’re playing a modded version, I can’t know what you changed, and you’re pretty much on your own. All I can tell you is if a tag is missing in the Rainbow files of the same name, it will show as tag not found. Likely going to be tags_items.txt as that’s the one with the style tags.
Playtest Rainbow filters are still updated on the Filter Files repo, I’m not making posts every time there is an update to not ping everybody watching the thread for it, but the number after playtest goes up and you can check it in the tooltip that opens the in game filter settings. Updates normally happen within like 12 hours of Steam updating my game.
Hi WareBare I added the name tags for the mod “Diablo 3 Classes”, can I send you the file via PM? tags_items.txt file
You can just make a post with the file yourself in the mod thread (or here) and I add the link to the post in the OP, that’s usually how I do it with Rainbow files for mods. I don’t intend to keep the file up to date and that way you can just update your own post with the new file.
Files and Program updated for Grim Dawn v1.2.1.6
Program updates itself, keep in mind colors need to be saved manually after it has finished updating.
You can find all downloads in the First Post or on GitHub. A new GitHub - Repository was opened during Playtest and will be used for updated Rainbow Files in all Languages, if you are using those you should check there after Hotfixes.
On a side note the work on the new tool and website continues, I had to learn a few new things to make it work the way I want and prepare everything for future (GD) projects, would be pointless to have to redo everything again in a year. I will go into details for those that care about the tech bits in the future and in general I currently plan on getting the ball rolling mid-end July.
Rainbow Tool v0.5.13 - Update for Grim Dawn v1.2.1.6
- Updated: Internal texts updated to the latest Game Update.
Note: Change Log can also be found on GitHub and inside the program.
G’day. Thanks for making, and continuing to support, the color tagging tools! Very much appreciate it.
Today, I went in thinking I’d shorten the Mastery Names on skills; turns out, the names like “Soldier” are hard-coded. It’d be cool if you would consider allowing those to be customized in future, thank you. ![]()
It is not hard-coded, you just need to modify the text in the relevant .TXT.
For example: Text_EN\tags_skills.txt → tagSkillClassName01=Soldier <
Perhaps you need a tool to rename all texts to what you want. Text containing “Soldier” in English:

When I try to merge this mod with the factions_goodsinfos_plus_journalnumbers.zip mod, I run into two problems; first the quest tracker “key” appears at the top-middle of the screen and second, when I click it it says “missing tag”.
If I use this mod alone, everything works OK. I used KDiff3 to merge the files which is pretty straightforward, most of the other mod’s changes are in the ‘faction’ section. But somehow it manages to break something.
Any suggestions?
Manually merge them as described in the post of the journal mod, works fine for me. A random text program is gonna fail, the journal files are pretty old, so there has been a few changes even if thats just some minor grammar stuff. When I use text compares to check if the files changed and I have to update them, it tends to show me a bunch off stuff that just doesnt matter, if KDiff3 changes those, things will break.
However, as mentioned the journal files are old, so the files that purely come from it might have missing tags or changes, not to mention the info the mod provides may have changed since, there have been balance and item changes.
Thanks, I’ll probably just stop using the journal numbers mod then. I was looking over the recent patch notes for the game and you’re right, a lot has changed since the last time I played.
Hey, this messaged triggered my e-mail, I have now updated the files to the latest version.
You will still have to merge them with other mods like the rainbow filter though one though (check the detailed description under Compatibility-Issues and other Notes).
And in case you are also using my factions goods-infos mod, I still have to update this one.
Anyone knows if we can also edit items background inside inventory to match the changed filter color. like magic items being blue too (diablo/poe filter) instead of basic yellow in grim dawn
You would have to mod the game.
So theres no actual mod or change for it? like no one mind different colors on filter and inside inventory?
