Small correction, haven’t tried barrelsmith elementalist but did do it on a sorcerer. With the huge number of hp regen, it should work out fine. I have a barrelsmith sorc/pyran sorc and ludrigan druid tho. I did all my achievements SSF on HC without any death with a sorcerer based around mortars and hp regen and that was quite easy actually - Mirror and Blast Shield are great and taking Aeon’s Hourglass in devotion kept the cooldowns short. On the other hand, with cautious playing as I did, I am not sure if it was really mandatory as I cannot remember any close calls. Have to say tho I didn’t do any celestials with it.
I see. Luckily I changed my mind at the last moment and went with Sorcerer for the extra safety. So far things are going well with a bit of kiting. I watched Mad_Lee’s videos doing Celestials with it, and I’ll definitely give it a try too — though I’ll probably die doing so.

Just noticed that there is no number 17 in the most recent list.
Is the build that was supposed to be there missing ? (likely the Light’s defender Purifier) or is the formatting wrong and an honorable mention should be promoted ?
We had few updated versions of it but none of them was good enough to post so we just skipped it.
I might be reading too much into this, but does that mean that the other 19 are still in top-20 contention? I was expecting that quite a few might have dropped out, given the meta changes in 1.2.1.6?
Nope, I think actual top20 builds would’ve looked different like the very next patch after we released this top20. And we mention it in the op. Some builds would’ve stayed, some would’ve dropped out.
The way current top20 is shaping (one that we are working on right now) might have like only one or two builds from this list.

Next top20 we should probably start with a disclaimer in like huge freaking letters saying the thing we said like thousand of times: GD endgame builds don’t start or end with the top20 builds, that there are couple of hundreds strong viable endgame specs and couple of hundreds niche/meme also viable ones, yada-yada.

For the next top 20, would it be possible to list your guys opinion on best build(s) for each class? It wouldn’t have to be ranked, just sort of like we felt these x number of builds were good for this class. If that is too much additional work then no worries. Very happy to get a list in the first place and appreciate everyone’s effort.

SR 36 plus is kind of a high bar, only the tankiest builds will be able to do that. Avenger warder or some other Regen tank.

I searched for “SR36” and found these which all should be pretty viable in the current patch 1.2.1.6 even if they were made in 1.2.1.3-4 at least afiak
Nah, good piloting actually helps a lot with that, I’ve been using it for added stress testing on my builds and surprisingly some you’d think would die handle it alright. 37’s usually where the pain fully comes in as Zantai did something evil with damage scaling.
Building for 36+ is a bit different from building for speed running 30-31. Especially as physical damage scales up significantly. So layered defences, high health regen/life steal etc are key. Though many of the Top 20 can do it with some tweaks or good gameplay.
Anyhow, I’ve been using it for testing recently so here’s what I’ve used that can do SR36:

These have all passed through it alive with only dumb errors killing them. Almawt can actually get to SR38 too:
I didn’t build it for that capability lawl, but it managed it pretty easily. Semi burnt out which is why only The Vigil’s Bane ever got posted. Which was based of the Top 20 Chaos AoM build, but vitality flavoured and I fully expect the Chaos AoM one can handle SR36 these days too. Due to the modifier the set now gives Doom Bolt that helps adds attack damage converted to health to it.
