Where is the Church?

Just ignore the troll, it won’t help.

Sounds more like your own prejudice.

Keep things civil folks.

Just because you don’t like what i’m saying doesn’t make me a troll.

if you so desperately want churchs go play anno

has it ever occurred to you that some of us might like that there is at least one game of this nature that doesn’t require us to build churches?

Oh, of course, it’s lower priority; purely cosmetic. I know that.

It wouldn’t, necessarily. It isn’t the buildings I have reservations about, it’s what they symbolize, a topic that always stirs controversy.

I run into too much lack of resources, and I like to have a reserve of gold if I have to buy resources or their end products (heavy tools, shoes, etc.). Of course, it’s the luck of the draw whether the vendors have any of these for sale. And sometimes, when I’m really needing a resource or item, the vendors charge much-inflated prices. Just a matter of personal preference.

If you are deliberately ignoring what people say and assigning motives to them based on nothing but your own prejudice, it absolutely does make you a troll.

If you get upset over churches in game, that’s up to you. You have the right to your opinion. But if you then start attacking other people by baselessly accusing them of arguing in bad faith (as opposed to addressing the things they DO say), you’re very definitely being a troll.

And about “at least one game of this nature that doesn’t require us to build churches”, drop the persecution complex please. I pointed out before that there are tons of games like this set in the stone age, the bronze age, the viking age, the Roman age, and so on, all without churches.

Except that’s not what i’m doing. I’m doing it based on actual human psychology.

You assuming, without evidence, that other people are arguing in bad faith is not, in any way, actual human psychology.

We trying

I’m not assuming anything without evidence.

You’re just refusing to acknowledge the fundamental underlying question: Why do they care?

Call it a Meetinghouse and let people create their own headcanon for it. Problem solved.

Well there is a shrine in decorations anyway. That’s kind of a church.

For the pleasure of having more diverse content and that no civilization has lived without deities. It’s a fact, not an opinion.

You’re not advancing the debate with your bistro psychology.

well that’s a load of bs

People already explained in this thread why they care, extensively. That you choose to ignore that because it contradicts the prejudices you hold against them doesn’t diminish that in any way.

No dude, I’m not ignoring it. And no matter how many times you want to try to scream prejudice to dismiss me it doesn’t change the fact that these people are no different than the ones to scream “but but lore!” when they complain about a black Dwarf in Rings of Power. It’s selective giving a shit that shows ethnocentrism.

In fact now that I think of it it makes perfect sense why you want to scream “prejudice!” at me… typical psychological projection

I’m surprised this thread is still going. The amount of vitriol on both sides of the argument is stunning. While I agree that a church is a nice thing thematically, it doesn’t have to exist, especially considering that the world of FF is a created one and only loosely based on history. This isn’t Medieval Europe sim folks, get over that please! And the fact that Crate got hate mail over their decision? (it’s still EA ffs, nothing saying we won’t get a church later on) Ridiculous. It makes all religious folk look like bigots and losers. Please stop with this madness.

They are talking about individuals. I spoke of civilizations.
Can you understand the difference?

You literally ARE ignoring it, that’s a factual description of your behavior here. People explain how they think a church would be nice to add because of the aesthetics, because of the functions it held in societies like these, because of how religion could be interesting as a game mechanic, et cetera.

You never addressed any of that. Instead, you accuse those people of having ulterior motives, based on no evidence other than your own prejudice, because you’re apparently unable to even comprehend the possibility that someone who disagrees with you is not some bible-thumping evil extremist.

And that Rings of Power reference came out of nowhere, wow. But it doesn’t surprise me you’re treating it as yet another battle in your culture war, where you defend a show regardless of its actual quality because it allows you to paint the people on the ‘other side’ as evil racists, who you can then attack to feel good about yourself.
But hey, it’s off topic. You go on being an ideological zealot on the internet if you like, but this is a forum where we discuss a game and what features we would like to see added or removed. That can only work if you are willing to listen to other people and address what the other person actually says, instead of making up a caricature of that other person in your head to then attack. Please save that childish nonsense for Twitter.
