I’ve been working for a few months on updaing an old mod called Darkest Dawn to current GD standards, and decided to share my work! The mod is WIP, but playable enought to 100 and even SR (not SR 40 tho haha
)
Important Note! Previous Darkest Dawn characters won’t work with my version! And starting from v0.4 my mod ONLY works on 1.2 game version!
Mod features:
- 3 new masteries - Lich, Illusionist and Chieftain;
- 25 endgame legendary sets.
- 150 MI’s to boost mod masteries;
- 12 relics;
- 15 cursed components in waist slot. These do large bonuses, but have a downsides.
Meet the Lich, Illusionist and Chieftain!
Lich is a master of spreading affliction and (in the future) shapeshifting to either hulkish Bone Colossus (melee, retaliation) or vile Restless Wraith (caster, leeching).
Illusionist is a master of crowd control, evasion and distracting enemies via temporary Illusions.
Chieftain is a towering brute, focusing on warcries, totems and powerful melee attacks.
How to get new items
When you start a new character, there will be a special NPC right near first Devil’s Crossing gates.
This NPC can exchange MI (monster infrequent items) for Replica MI’s, while retaining all affixes. Simply click the swap dialogue option and then drop MI item on the ground nearby NPC, it will be converted and added back to your inventory.
There’s also another NPC, at which you can craft useful stuff and see what MIs can be exchanged for replica versions (TIP: Dont craft them, you will lose affixes).

Simply extract DarkestDawn folder from .zip archive to the Grim Dawn/Mods folder! If the “Mods” folder does not exist in Grim Dawn directory, just create it ![]()
Keep in mind, AoM and FG DLC’s are required for mod to work.
NEW Changelog

-Adjusted all skill icons so they have “depth” now, just like vanilla ones. (great thanks to Asylum101 for almost all updated skill icons and also for teaching me how to do that!)
-Changed modded class enumerations. This was made for easier merge with Grimarillion and will result in loosing all skill points and mod mastery selections. USE GD STASH to retrieve mod masteries. Vanilla ones are unaffected.

-Replica Bonescythe: fixed higher levels of this item missing +1 Wendigo Totem skillmod.
-Replica Lucius Blade-Arm: fixed granted skill being static first level across all versions of this item (it should scale now as vanilla item does on higher levels).
-Replica Scarab Carapace: fixed higher levels of this item not having more damage on Aura of Censure skillmod.
-Replica Bloodsworn Codex: fixed this item not having Blood Ritual skillmodifier past 20 item level.
-Replica Viper Sandspitter: fixed few items having tag not found instead of proper name.
Chieftain:
-Ancestral Spirit: added tracker for current number of summons.
-Ancestral Maul (Ancestral Spirit skill): reduced max number of hammers from 5 to 3.
-Thorn Totem: mirrored skill icon to differentiate from Wendigo Totem, base duration buffed to 12 s, Thorns skill now shoot only 1 projectile, but attack speed doubled. Added a debuff aura to main skill line. Note: this greatly improves early game and also allows me to add stackable -%RR to support other damage types in Chieftain. Replica MIs were adjusted with these changes.
-Thorned Fury: removed additional projectile bonus, increased starting bonus of %piercing chance from 10 to 20%.
-Volley of Thorns: changed base duration override to 14s.
-Earthquake: stun chance now scales with level rather being 100% chance at all ranks.
-Shockwave Totem: increased cooldown to 4s, added tracker for current number of Shockwave Totems placed. Now uses different skill template and attacks at range instead of when player is nearby, weapon damage removed, deals double damage when strikes the target directly with Shockwave.
-Fist of War: reworked, now adds a chance to deal big internal trauma on hit and increases aoe size of shockwaves.
-Ancestral Wrath: reduced -%stun RR and merged pierce and phys damage into single big phys damage tick for easier conversions.
-Enduring Cry: increased armour bonus and health regen scaling with ranks.
-Intimidating Cry: reduced cooldown to 5 seconds, removed Fear crowd-control.
Illusionist:
-Magus Clone: clones are permanent now, cooldown raised to 20s. Changed skill template, due to issues with pets targeting obstacles instead of enemies. Sadly, nothing could be done to avoid that. New template is weaker, but still should proc devotions just fine.
-Shroud of Gyrus: greatly reduced skill energy cost, it was wayyy too high.
-Unbounded Storm: removed additional radius bonus. (i forgot to remove it during pre-release testing, oops).

Game:
-Updated Mastery Selection images with new, a better fitting ones.
-Adjusted colours of the 2 remaining sets (Bloodgorger d015 and Warped Praetorian d018).
-Adjusted replica items base stats to match vanilla ones from latest update.
-ALL replica items skill modifiers were changed to match changes in Illusionist/Reanimator.
-Added tags to all skills for better readability.
-Added THIRD MASTERY - A Mighty Chieftain, who uses powerful warcries and 2h weapons to clear the battlefield, dealing physical/pierce/bleeding damage.
Items:
-Cursed Components: reworked, now their negative stat is provided via activation trigger (on attack, when hit, etc.)
-Infinity Ring: reduced raw stats from 333 to 240.
-Storm Secret Set: reworked, now each ring grants 25% ele->lightning conversion, while full set bonus also grants 50% ele->lightning and 50% aether->lightning.
-Font of Thunder: removed max elemental resistance, added +10% physical resistance
-Shaper’s Dream: removed all resistances except stun, freeze, petrify and slow. This ring was insanely OP for capping stats.
-Heart of Targo: reduced flat health, DA, %armor bonus, removed %armor absorption, added %retaliation damage.
-Blessing of Ishtak: reduced flat healing from proc to 5%.
-Kingmaker: reduced -%skill energy cost and added +Attack/Cast speed to the granted skill.
-Prostagma: reduced base attack speed, removed physical damage from weapon, added 388-956 base cold damage, reworked granted skill, so now you have -15% total speed while wielding this weapon.
-Mastery relics were adjusted to account the major changes in Illusionist and Reanimator.
-ALL Monster Infrequents (MI) were reworked and updated with latest vanilla item changes.
-Added 31 new MI, most are for Chieftain mastery.
Reanimator:
-Mastery was overhauled and renamed to LICH. Two shapeshifting forms will become available when Fangs of Asterkarn update goes live! Sooo until then, Bone Colossus and Restless Wraith were swapped with one of their respective skill sets. This also means Lich have NO player scaled pets (sadge).
-Base stats were adjusted from 150/175/175 to 175/150/175.
-Raise Bone Colossus: reworked and renamed to Blight Slash, increased skill ranks to 16, it acts as 120 degree melee attack, similar to Blade Arc, dealing cold/acid damage. (It is a one of two skills from future shapeshifting form, coming with FoA DLC).
-Chilling Strike: reworked and renamed to Sapping Frost, increased skill ranks to 12, now works as a modifier to Blight Slash, adds crit damage, %RATA and flat cold damage.
-Chilling Presence: reworked and renamed to Ancient Bones, increased skill ranks to 12. Now reduces target’s damage on hit and adds flat poison damage with %cold/poison damage modifiers.
-Lord of Bones: removed.
-Blight Colossus: NEW transmuter for Bone Colossus, which converts cold->acid damage.
-Blood Ritual: reworked, now grants a small amount of attack damage converted to health (ADCTH), flat vitality/decay damage, vit resistance and OA. The skill drains your life when activated. Note: this is the only buff in the vanilla which grants generic life leech WHILE not restricting it to exclusive/stationary totem.
-Flesh to Power: added crit damage scaling.
-Boiling Blood: removed healing, added resistance to life reduction and increased overall resistances bonuses.
-Ritual of Flesh: reworked and renamed to Blood Pact, now requires a shield and grants additional %ADCTH and %physical resistance.
-Exoskeletal Armor: reworked and renamed to Bone Ward, increased number of ranks to 12, now grants DA, flat armor and cold damage bonuses.
-Bizzare Shell: reworked, now grants acid damage bonuses, elemental resistance and attack speed.
-Reaper’s Touch: reworked and renamed to Frostbite. Now acts as default weapon attack replacer, similar to Fire Strike, dealing cold/vitality damage.
-Frostbite: reworked and renamed to Creeping Frost. Now adds a small amount of aoe when used with melee and deals vitality/frostburn damage.
-Brittle: now adds a chance to freeze target, flat cold damage and a chance to deal big vitality hit.
-Flesh Rot: reworked, now it is a damage aura, which reduces enemy vitality/bleed/acid/elemental resistances, while also draining your health (but cannot kill you).
-Chilling Death: removed.
-Infestation: reworked, now reduces enemy DA and health regen and adds a retaliation damage added to attack (RATA).
-Synergetic Link: reworked and renamed to Spreading Affliction, now increases total damage done to enemies and size of aura, but also raises enemy total speed and drains more health from you.
-One with Death: renamed to The Undeath, removed %health bonus and AOE, now only works on caster. Added Attack/Cast Speed bonuses.
-Unholy Bastion: NEW Exclusive, which provides a boost to retaliation damage, grants %dmg absorption, while also acting like Counterstrike - when you are hit, you retaliate with small acid nova.
-Circle of Protection: reworked and renamed to Sanguine Frenzy, activates on landing a crit and gives ADCTH, flat OA and %OA.
-Corrosive Swarm: reworked and renamed back to Corrosion Wave. You conjure a 5 waves upon cast that deal pierce/acid damage.
-Atonement: reworked, now slightly reduces CD of the skill and shreds enemy defensive ability.
-Eldritch Might: reworked, now adds retaliation damage added to attack, increases total retaliation damage, but reduces non-retal damage of the skill and requires a shield.
-Rip Blood: reworked, now chains to enemies, draining their life.
-Malevolence: removed.
-Frozen Blood: reworked, now converts vit->cold on the skill and changes the FX.
-Evisceration: added %vitality damage.
-Crimson Flood: reworked, now increases affected enemies amount, gives vitality damage and raises crit damage of the skill.
-Marrow Drinker: reworked, now it is a secondary modifier, which tethers to enemy and leeching their life and energy.
-Summon Restless Wraith: reworked and renamed to Restless Wraith, now saps the life of nearby targets, dealing vitality/bleeding damage with a small cooldown. (It is a one of two skills from future shapeshifting form, coming with FoA DLC).
-Vampiric Drain: reworked, now increases aoe of the skill and reduces target’s resistances for 3s.
-Vampiric Feast: reworked, now grants a large amount of %vitality/bleed damage bonuses.
-Profane Veil: NEW skill, grants a large amount of %damage absorb, while dealing a high RATA damage to nearby targets and leeches health from that RATA.
-Summon Rotten Mummy: removed.
-Desecrated Ground: removed
-Eldritch Incantations: removed.
Illusionist:
-Mastery was overhauled and received MANY changes. Damage types were swapped from aether/chaos/vit to aether/elemental with focus on the dots. Soo you are no longer playing some kind of Occultist (RIP).
-Base stats were adjusted from 150/125/225 to 125/175/200.
-Illusion Dagger: renamed to Imelda’s Seeking Blade, removed lightning damage, added electrocute damage and %weapon damage scaling.
-Shocking Arrival: reduced tick rate of dot ground from every 0.8s to every 1s, added chance to stun affected targets.
-Dispersion: removed %lightning damage bonus, added %electrocute damage bonus with %increased duration.
-Through the Veil: reworked and renamed to Veilwalk, increased skill ranks to 12. Now a Disengage movement type skill, which reduces enemy OA and damage upon leaping backwards.
-Tearing Rift: reworked and renamed to Illusory Escape, now slows enemies affected at Veilwalk starting point and applies Fumble/Impaired aim to them.
-Time Stop: reworked, now acts as a non-damage dealing debuff, which slows enemy greatly, while also reducing their elemental/aether/chaos/slow resistances. Note: this is the only source of slow resistance reduction in vanilla game.
-Downfall: reworked and moved to Striat’s Vortex skill line.
-Amygdala’s Sight: reworked and renamed to Elemental Equilibrium, now increases elemental damage/dot damage, gives cooldown reduction and converts a portion of aether/physical damage to elemental damage.
-Enrage: reworked and renamed to Eldric’s Arcane Shot, reduced skill ranks to 12. Now shoots with your gun, applying all elemental dots at once and reduces enemy movement speed.
-Hysteria: reworked, now adds aether damage and increases %burn/frostburn/electrocute dot damage.
-Veil of Darkness: reworked and renamed to Shroud of Gyrus, now also provides a small amount of flat damage absorb and deals pure elemental damage.
-Troubled Dreams: reworked and renamed to Combustion, now increases amount of targets affected and radius in which aura works, also adds fire and frostburn damage.
-Dream Eater: reworked and renamed to Primeval Force, now increases base skill duration and elemental damage.
-Aether Corruption: reworked and renamed to Vile Shroud, now converts elemental->vitality damage and adds ADCTH.
-Summon Living Horror: reworked and renamed to Magus Clone. Creates a 2 Magus Illusions, which shower enemies with arcane spears from above, dealing pure elemental damage.
-Burning Horrors: reworked and renamed to Ethereal Blades, now adds a static +1 amount of blades and increases crit damage of the skill.
-Retaliating Echoes: reworked and renamed to Lasting Legacy, greatly increases elemental/elemental dot damage and duration.
-Wrath of the Aether: removed.
-Amygdala’s Cut: reworked and renamed to Amygdala’s Mindstrike, increased skill ranks to 16, now a it is a ranged spell, which deals aether/burn damage and confuses enemies.
-Mindfray: reworked, now adds fire/burn damage and %aether/burn damage.
-Cryptomnesia: reworked and renamed to Arcane Infusion, now a secondary modifier that grants a buff on hit, increasing aether/burn damage you deal for a short time.
-Edge of Sanity: removed.
-Weight of the World: reworked and renamed to Amygdala’s Fall, now converts aether/elemental damage to chaos damage.
-Retaliatory Strike: removed.
-Halo Effect: reworked and renamed to Ether Cloak, now grants a flat DA, bigger movement speed bonus and max move speed, dodge/deflect chance.
-Devil Mind: reworked and renamed to Warding Veil, increased skill ranks to 12, now activates on 40% health, grants big flat damage absorb and max resistances bonus.
-Gyrus’ Sphere of Repulsion: reworked and renamed to Obenor’s Hall of Illusions, now summons a multiple melee Illusions to distract enemies (they cause aggro and give you a short time to rest).
-Striat Vortex: reworked, now deals pure cold damage, slows targets and is created around character (if you’re familliar with PoE, this is basically a Vortex skill from that game)
-Unbounded Storm: reworked, now adds a cooldown to skill, greatly raising damage done while also freezes and disrupts skills from affected targets.
-Void Affinity: reworked and renamed to Arcane Attunement, now increases %elemental/aether damage, adds a chance to deal one of three elemental damage types, OA and energy regen.
-Vanish: reworked and renamed to Ghostwalking, now adds total speed, DA and slow/disruption resistances.
-Growing Shadows: reworked and renamed to Mind Cage, now adds a flat aether damage, increases stun/freeze/chaos/aether resistances.
-Touch of the Void: removed.
-Mind Cage: reworked and renamed to Prismatic Weaver, increased skill ranks to 10, now adds flat elemental amage and chance of big %ele dot damage, and adds %ele resistance.

Chieftain:
-Thorn Totem: added 8 second duration to summoned totems (they were permanent before), removed Thorn Nova skill. Note: it was way too strong with bleeds added and scaled bleed exponentially with transmuter.
-Thorned Fury: removed additional projectile scaling. Note: this scaled way too much, so now it adds a static +1 projectile bonus.
-Volley of Thorns: changed, now adds +1 max summon limit, +2s duration, but works only with 2h melee or ranged weapons.
-Sunder: increased cooldown to 1.5s, removed additional projectiles, increased base aoe on hit to 1.5meter, increased weapon damage scaling. Note: i wanted this skill to deal the highest %WD per hit, so now it fills better this role.
-Earthshaker: increased additional radius scaling. Note: since the main skill have way more radius and with all skillmods possible, you are able to get big AOE on enemy hits, GREATLY increaseing clearing for enemy masses.
-Korvaak’s Pyre: increased weapon damage penalty to -30%.
-Savage Wounds: removed chance of big phys damage on hit.
-Aftershock: removed flat phys damage, added chance to deal big phys damage on hit.
-Ancestral Bond (Determination secondary mod): renamed to Ancestral Wrath to avoid confusion with same name from Thorn Totem last modifier. Increased base radius to 2.5m.

-Raise Bone Colossus: removed skill cooldown, reduced model size by around 30%, adjusted controller to make pet more responsive for surrounding enemies, added scalable pet amount, 2 by default and scales up to 3 pets on ultimate levels (from 20+ ranks), increased base attack and move speed.
–Chilling Presence: removed from base skill and now takes place of Shield Throw skillmodifier (skill points previously invested in Shield Throw are preserved and kept in Chilling Presence, no respeccing is needed), reduced -attack/cast speed debuff, removed -freeze RR, added reduced target’s damage and -slow RR.
–Chilling Strikes: now only affects base skill, removed OA debuff, added +%crit damage.
–Lord of Bones: swapped skill icons with Shield Throw, removed +DA and +all damage, added +%attack/cast speed.

A. Itemisation is a big WIP, there’s a chance the items you’ve earned will have different skillmodifiers.

A. I can adjust stats of a skill, but there’s very low chance i will change skill template.
