There are already resources with description of smiths in GD like Wiki or topics on forums. However, to my best knowledge, no one contains the complete information on them. The guide is intended to provide all valuable data on smiths to be used by new and experienced players. You will find here information on their location, unique talents and services.
Note: Keep in mind that relics won’t get smith crafting bonus. Instead relics have their own bonus called “completion bonus”. To find more information on this see Graceful Dusk item database.
Grim Dawn
Duncan - Arcane Blacksmith
Race: Human
Faction: Devil’s Crossing
Location: Devil’s Crossing
Available: On any difficulty if you side with him in quest “Tale of two blacksmiths”
Unique crafts: The following items of rare quality can only be crafted by him:
Talents: Can randomly add to crafted item one of the following effects:
- +8-16% to energy regeneration
- +4-12 to defense ability
- +2-4% to physique
Comments: You can always change your choice of smith on the next difficulty.
Angrim - Forgemaster
Race: Human
Faction: Devil’s Crossing
Location: Devil’s Crossing
Available: On any difficulty if you side with him in quest “Tale of two blacksmiths”
Unique crafts: The following items of rare quality can only be crafted by him:
Talents: Can randomly add to crafted item one of the following effects:
- +3-7% to pierce resistance
- +2-4% to armor
- +2-4% to physique
Comments: You can always change your choice of smith on the next difficulty.
Valdrick - Legion Smith
Race: Human
Faction: The Black Legion
Location: Homestead
Available: On any difficulty
Unique crafts: Can craft dynamite used to open some blocked areas, chests and to break items on components. You need the following to craft it:
- Aether Shard
- Searing Ember
- Scavenged Plating
- 5000 iron bits
Talents: Can randomly add to crafted item one of the following effects:
- +2-4% to aether resistance
- +2-4% to chaos resistance
- +38-80 to health (HP)
Comments: One of two smiths in vanilla game who can craft dynamite.
Etram Fald - Celestial Smith
Race: Undead
Faction: Neutral
Location: Tyrant’s Hold
Available: Starting from Elite difficulty
Unique crafts: Can craft random legendary items from chosen category. The item level is limited by 75. You need the following components for craft:
Accessories (jewelry & belts)

- Polished Emerald
- 75000 iron bits
Armor
- Blood of Ch’thon x8
- Polished Emerald
- 75000 iron bits
Caster Weapons and Off-Hands
- Tainted Brain Matter x8

Comments: Keep in mind the following information on smith:
- Etram has low chance to craft legendary items with blueprints (at least non-factional) except helms. The confirmation can be found here.
- There are some legendary items not belonging to smith items crafting pool:
MI legendaries like this scepter or this sword and legendary helms.
- To create legendary item your character level should be at least equal to minimum possible item level from certain category, i.e. level 50 (level 58 for accessories). Otherwise you will get epic item.
- Take into account that creating legendary item is completely unpredictable process: in the worst case he can craft in a row several instances of the same item (which you probably already have), but if you are lucky enough you will get collection of new different items.
- Etram can’t craft regular items and items from learned blueprints like other smiths. This functionality was deprecated and removed after DLC AoM release.
Hallena - Legion Smith
Race: Human
Faction: The Black Legion
Location: Fort Ikon
Available: On any difficulty
Unique crafts: Can craft dynamite used to open some blocked areas, chests and to break items on components. You need the following to craft it:
- Aether Shard
- Searing Ember

- +2-4% to aether resistance
- +2-4% to chaos resistance

Comments: The second smith of the two in vanilla game capable to craft dynamite.
Horrus - Cursed Smith
Race: Undead
Faction: Neutral
Location: Gates of Necropolis
Available: On any difficulty
Unique crafts: Creating unique crafting component (transmutation) from Ancient Heart/Tainted Brain Matter/Blood of Chthon to another one from this set of components.
