[Tool] Grim Internals

Crate will probably do some more patches to GD before FoA releases. How big they’ll be though … :woman_shrugging:

No, it doesn’t. Unfortunately it doesn’t work for me at all.

Will this utility work with the newest version of the game? It works with 1.1.9.7 and i have this version.
Dawn of Masteries currently already works with the newest version of the game.
I wonder if is there a plan to make this workable with the current version of the game.

No, the tool is no longer being updated. This is why Crate have added some of its features to the game. It will not work with any version of the game beyond 1.1.9.8.

So is there a new utility or is it integrated into the game the ability to increase game speed, auto pick items etc. If there is not such option i personally do not see the reason to switch to new version of the game. Those are two things i need in my game.

Game speed, yes. More auto pick up of items, no.

Bear in mind that if you don’t go forward patch-wise and stay on 1.1.9.7/8 then you won’t be able to play the new expansion when it releases.

Then I won’t be upgrading since those options are mandatory for me.

Man, that’s depressing, that GI won’t be further updated… Why not have it open sourced so some dedicated folks can take over the mantle and keep the project going… Such a shame.

Welcome to the forum. :slightly_smiling_face:

GlockenGerda didn’t want it to be open source because she didn’t want her tool to be used by those who pirate the game.

Crate have added some of its features to the game and others are working on making new tools.

I mostly ment the open source thing in terms of "if you ‘abandon’/stop supporting a project like this, at least make it open source then, so it isn’t lost to time despite people caring enough about it to potentially pick it up where you left it off at…

Glocken disappeared suddenly so … may not have been possible for her to do that even if she was willing.

She didn’t really disappear suddenly. A couple of years ago she said she doesn’t even play the game anymore so she has no interest in working on GI apart from some small fixes here and there. So her departure from the forums didn’t really come as a surprise.

She always said there will never be an open source release because that could potentially enable GI to run on pirated game versions.

I’m aware that she said she wasn’t playing the game much anymore. However, given her commitment to continue to update the tool even when she wasn’t I just can’t believe she would just drop it without telling everyone that ??? would be the last update (something she did do a few years ago when she planned to stop supporting it) or making some sort of arrangement to pass it on to either someone else or to Crate.

This was too sudden to me. She literally updated the tool to v1.1.9.7 for playtesting purposes and that was it. No other communication whatsoever which to me is very unlike her.

it does this since forever.

Perhaps that’s why she stopped updating it and not release the source code and didn’t announce it.

It shouldn’t since she had a check of some kind that prevented it from working with illegal copies. Many who had those came here asking for help to get it to run on their copies. They were “encouraged” to leave.

maybe, all we can do is speculate. i mean it was a noble goal, but at some point after the game is released it would also be ok to stop caring.
but anyone programming tools or modding games doesn’t owe anything to anybody, even to the devs. so it’s also fair to do whatever you want…

if i had to pick a number i would guess 99.9% of mods are playable with non legit games across all of gaming.

not really, judging by the countless attempts of pirates seeking help in this very thread. But I’m not a pirate so I wouldn’t really know what countermeasures Gerda actually implemented. Maybe you know more than I do

Exactly, that’s why I don’t understand everyone making such a fuss about Gerda’s absence. For over a year she updated GI as a courtesy even though she had no personal interest in doing so. Then at some point she drew the line and left, simple as that. I’m repeating myself here but it’s time for people to get over it. New tools by very active devs have emerged, imo it’s better support those instead of being nostalgic about a dead project.

Still not a reason to support piracy.

has nothing to do with that, it’s about being realistic…

Thank you so much for all you work.

Will we be able to use such features on crucible, the integrated GI ones, I presume?
