Current Mod Status: Version 1.5
Main Gameplay Features:
Grim Armory introduces a large number of Legendary items to the game, currently in the form of item sets, but individual, standalone items are a possibility in the future. These items are designed and balanced around the vanilla Grim Dawn experience, and should land within the curve of Grim Dawn’s power scaling, so as not to feel like “modded power creep”.
The Augury feature allows users to target-farm a wider array of items, including all of the new items introduced by the mod. When players reach Honored Faction rank with any of the endgame Factions (Black Legion, Malmouth Resistance, Witch Covens), they may purchase a “Mysterious Card” that allows them to summon an NPC who will convert Augury Cards into items. Augury Cards drop from specific enemies throughout the world, and behave like Partial Components, requiring players to get enough of a certain card to create a Completed Component which can be converted into a usable item at the Augury Smith NPC.
It may sound more convoluted than it is.
This mod requires the following Grim Dawn content:
- Grim Dawn (duh) on Version 1.2.0 or higher
- Ashes of Malmouth
- Forgotten Gods
Credits:
Many thanks to the following individuals for their respective involvement in this mod:
- @RektbyProtoss, who gave me the idea for the first set of this mod and, therefore, got this whole ball rolling.
- @Snazzblaster, who gave me many, many more ideas for other sets (whether he intended to or not)
- @ASYLUM101 and @Serious_Stan for being literal gods of modding Grim Dawn. Their advice saved me weeks, if not longer, of development time.
- @Grimer for providing me with an Aether Blade Arc effect.
- Crate Entertainment for making this wonderful game in the first place.
Latest Changelog:

Bugfixes
- Fixed an animation issue preventing enemies from properly ragdolling on death.
Version 1.5 Hotfix 4
Bugfixes
- Fixed an animation issue preventing spinning skills (i.e., Eye of Reckoning) from being used.
Version 1.5 Hotfix 3
Bugfixes
- Fixed another progression blocker involving a specific subset of 33 enemies.
- Fixed an issue in which some traps were displaying healthbars on certain game settings.
Version 1.5 Hotfix 2
Bugfixes
- Fixed a progression blocker involving multi-phase enemies. (Which is most main-campaign required bosses)
Version 1.5 Hotfix 1
Bugfixes
- Fixed an issue in which all Augury cards could not drop. Oops!
Changes
- Changed drop sources and chances of The Sailor. Changed The Sailor to only require two Augury cards to complete.
Additions
- Added two new Augury cards, The Herald and The Praetor. Together alongside The Sailor, these cards allow lower-level characters to more actively engage with the Augury card system as they progress naturally through the campaign.
Version 1.5
Additions
- Added 9 Variant Sets, one for each of the 5pc Mastery sets (Markovian, Ulzuin, Dreeg, etc.) that attempt to remain loreful while providing alternate ways of using their masteries. Each Variant set piece can be obtained 1:1 from its non-Variant Mythical form (e.g., a non-Variant Mythical Ulzuin’s Pyroclasm can be traded for a Variant Mythical Ulzuin’s Pyroclasm). Variant set pieces are incompatible with non-Variant set pieces (they do not contribute to each others’ set bonuses).
- Added 81 “Conversion Components”. These Components can be slotted on your rings to provide 15% X → Y conversion for all damage combinations in the game (except Elemental; mono-elements like Fire are supported individually). Alternatively, ‘Purity’ versions of these Components exist that convert 25% X → X to help “purify” a damage type if you want X in your build but have conversions that may take away from it elsewhere.
- Added the BountiesUnlocked mod to GrimArmory. BountiesUnlocked will continue to be supported as a standalone mod as well, for those that do not wish to engage with GrimArmory features.
- It seems Inusat, the Augur, is now capable of melting down Stacks of Premium Iron Bars into a Glob of Iron. For what purpose he is doing this is anyone’s guess.
Removals
- Temporarily removed drop sources for Augury cards of the Twisted set.
-
- The Twisted set is one I’ve never been particularly fond of, and I am taking it back into the shop for further work. Existing Augury cards that lead to the set will not be destroyed, nor will existing set pieces. All that is being removed is the ability to drop additional Augury cards for the set. When the set is reintroduced, Augury cards that craft into it will be compatible with existing cards.
Changes
- Increased drop chance of The Machine Augury card.
- Increased drop chance of The Astronomer Augury card.
- Increased drop chance of The Wayward Augury card.
- Increased drop chance of The Judge Augury card.
Bugfixes
- Fixed an issue in which Azaleon could not drop its intended Augury card.
- Fixed an issue in which The Formless Augury card could not be obtained from one of its intended sources.
- Fixed an issue in which the Variant Leviathan had far higher-than-intended stats. (This change will be retroactive, and will reroll any existing Variant Leviathans)
- Fixed an issue on the Soldier of Fortune medal where it was not properly applying one of its bonuses to Devouring Swarm.
Housekeeping
- Added drop chances to the spoiler cheatsheet of Augury cards. Also amended some of the drop source descriptors to specify whether a class of enemies (e.g., “Insects”) required heroes/bosses of that group or not.
Current Grim Armory Items:
14 Sets!
- Mediocrity’s Vengeance - A Fire RATA set for Pyromancers, Sorcerers, and Warlocks alike to enjoy! Community inspired, albeit with some special twists!
- Purity of Being - An unarmed Warder/Archon/Warlord set that breaks all the rules! Focusing on Counter Strike, Upheaval, and Ascension, players will need to figure out a way to maximize their offensive power without access to weaponry or core attributes (Physique/Cunning/Spirit)! But the rewards are well worth it, as the set raises the Attack Speed cap to 300% and the Movement Speed cap to 170%. Get your monk game on!
- Soldier of Fortune - A Pierce Primal Strike (Shaman)/Flashbang (Demolitionist)/Ring of Steel (Nightblade) set! Strike out at your foes with a dazzling display of your arsenal, and if you get a bit lucky, you’ll find yourself hitting extra hard when you do.
- Felsic Flow - A pet set from which one can summon the powerful Obsidian Defiler known as Ma’s’ka to shield them in battle and crush their foes! Focusing on a non-pet-oriented mastery Combo (Commando) and Lightning Damage, the set prioritizes defensive bulk over offensive prowess.
- Imperial Automata - Lightning Auradin! The Imperial Automata leans as hard as it can into the turn-off-brain experience of Auradins of ages past, focusing on Lightning damage, Ulzuin’s Wrath (Demolitionist), and Aura of Censure (Inquisitor) with the goal of making players indomitable tanks.
- Judicator’s Ward - A generic two piece set, of Medal and Amulet, that compliments the two rings of the Judicator’s Seals set.
- Meteoric Might - Another Lightning Damage set, this time focusing on Devastation (Arcanist), Blade Trap (Nightblade), and Judgment (Oathkeeper). Manipulate the positioning of your foes while bringing heavenly ruination down upon them!
- Realmsplitter - A Pierce Aegis of Menhir (Oathkeeper) and Amarasta’s Blade Burst (Nightblade) set that provides both skills with a chance to reset their cooldowns and also gives Aegis itself fracturing projectiles! Leads to very dynamic gameplay depending on how RNG favors the user.
- Unraveler’s Calling - Acid Cadence (Soldier) fans rejoice! This set also provides another implementation of Acid Sigil of Consumption (Occultist), with Sigils in particular utilizing Grim Dawn 1.2’s Sunder mechanic to make Sigils into a more aggresive variant of Inquisitor Seals (not benefited here). Includes maluses to Shield Block stats to incentivize aggresive gameplay with Sigils.
- Forerunner of Five - A 2H Aether Blade Arc (Soldier) and Albrecht’s Aether Ray (Arcanist) set. In addition to enabling 2H AAR, it also applies a splash damage effect to Blade Arc (as well as some CDR for Clean Sweep), making for some extra chunky hits against packs of enemies. (Many thanks to Grimer for the Blade Arc visual effect!)
- Primordial Saboteur - A dual-wield Chaos Ulzuin’s Chosen (Demolitionist) + Bone Harvest (Necromancer) set that, like the Bladefall set, revolves around weapon swapping for maximized potency. Very customizable to fit your preferred playstyle.
- The Spellslinger - Spam fire Trozan’s Sky Shard (Arcanist) + CD Fire Forcewave (Soldier). Built around locking down, controlling, and eliminating key targets under a flurry of meteors.
- Twisted Adornments - Spammable Chaos Grasping Vines (Shaman) coupled with many, many more Blade Spirits, albeit each dealing reduced damage. A proc machine, but keep an eye on your energy reserves!
- Bladefall - A Lightning Phantasmal Blades (Nightblade) + War Cry (Soldier) set, focusing on swapping between a 2H Axe and a 2H Mace which drastically provide different gameplay styles. One weapon focuses Phantasmal Blades into a line of death and destruction, while the other increases the skill’s targeting angle to create a spammable nova of Lightning daggers!
53 Augury Cards used for target-farming the above sets as well as vanilla items!
6 Variant Items, which can be crafted at Inusat by trading him the highest-level versions of the original vanilla items they were based off of!
9 Variant Sets, one for each of the 5pc mastery sets, providing alternate ways of building for each mastery!
81 Conversion Components supporting most damage types in the game!
1 Original Legendary Item.
That’s totally, definitely it. Anything more would be crazy.

Version 1.2 Hotfix 1:
This Hotfix contains a few fixes and optimizations identified by using the tools available in the Grim Dawn Modding Suite.
Bugfixes:
- Fixed issue in which the Soldier of Fortune helmet could not be obtained without transmuting the setpieces. It can now be crafted as intended via Inusat.
- Fixed issue in which The Pauper card could sometimes craft nothing.
- Fixed issue in which The Antagonist card could not craft Aetherial and Aetherial Vanguard Warrants.
Internal
- Shrunk mod source size significantly, reducing the extracted data size on disk from 55MB to ~36MB.
Version 1.2:
Additions:
- Added the Soldier of Fortune set! This is a Pierce Primal Strike/Flashbang/Ring of Steel set with some fun tricks up its sleeves to control the battlefield!
- Added the ability for Inusat to craft ‘Variant’ items which are vanilla GD items with a unique variation on their functionality/damage type support. Crafting a Variant item only requires having the original item (of its highest level) in your inventory; for instance, one can craft the Variant Leviathan, which supports Cold Damage instead of Physical Damage, by offering up a Mythical Leviathan to Inusat. Crafting Variant items is IRREVERSIBLE and does NOT preserve crafting bonuses.
- Added 6 Variant items to Inusat’s blacksmith toolkit.
- Added one standalone, original Legendary item. One can find it where the heavier forces of the Aetherial Vanguard patrol.
Bugfixes:
- Significantly reduced drop chance of Vampire Augury cards from base enemies and heroes. Sources from bosses are unaffected. {Source: player feedback}
- Significantly reduced drop chance of Unstoppable Augury cards, from 40% to 10%. {Source: player feedback}
- Fixed issue where the Felsic set was not granting its +skills bonus at 3/4 set pieces as was originally intended.
v1.1
Additions:
- Added the Felsic Flow set, inspired by - and referencing - one of Grim Dawn’s most prominent players! Summon the powerful Obsidian Defiler known as Ma’s’ka to shield you in battle and crush your foes!
Bugfixes:
- Fixed many, many issues involving something that totally, definitely has nothing to do with the Steps of Torment.
- Fixed Moneybags Martin’s boss marker not appearing at proper ranges.
- Tidied up internal files. Again.
v1.0:
Gameplay
- OLD CHARACTERS OF EARLIER VERSIONS OF THIS MOD WILL NOT WORK IN THE CURRENT VERSION. Shouldn’t be a problem as this mod hasn’t been updated since 2020, but worth a shout anyway.
- Rebranded! We’re Grim Armory now. Wanted Grimloot but it was taken. Totally won’t be confusing with other “GrimAr…” mods.
- Added multiple new sets, detailed below, to the roster of items available in the mod.
- Merged the mod with the Augury mod. This includes the Augury mod’s (unannounced) v0.3 update that streamlines the smith’s spawning process.
-
- As part of that merger, the Augury mod is hereby discontinued and this mod will instead be the point of future development for it.
- Added multiple new Augury Cards, complete with specific ways to farm those cards, for each of Dawn of Loot’s sets. Also added some Augury Cards that have nothing to do with the new sets.
-
- The total number of Augury Cards has been increased from 36 to 49.
- Updated some skill and item visuals in the mod.
- No changes were made to the Steps of Torment.
- Totally, definitely didn’t add anything else worth mentioning here. That’d be crazy.
Internal
- Updated files for Bladefall and Twisted skill modifiers to correctly list which skills they each modify in their file descriptions. This had no effect on gameplay, but makes the mod easier to edit for those seeking to adjust the source on their own.
Balance
The Spellslinger
- No longer provides Mirror of Ereoctes skill bonuses or its overpowered skill modifiers.
- No longer provides bonuses to Overload or Field Command that weren’t really doing anything.
- Fixed the set so that it correctly disables TSS’s ability to Freeze enemies.
- Fixed the set so that the Amulet correctly reduces TSS’s damage.
- Now provides a bit of % Weapon Damage to TSS to allow it to benefit from the Energy Leech provided by IEE.
- Now provides improved defensive and energy sustain bonuses to Maiven’s Sphere of Protection on the Spellslinger Shield.
- Now leans harder into the TSS line than it had before.
- Now leans harder into Burn Damage than it had before.
- Added a permanent radial debuff to the four-piece set bonus that reduces enemy Stun and Fire Resists, while dealing a moderate amount of Fire Damage.
Twisted Adornments
- Increased Chaos Resistance shred modifier for Veil of Shadows from -10% to -15%.
- Added flat Chaos Damage to Veil of Shadows item skill modifier.
Bladefall
- Reduced bonus to All Soldier Skills on Bladefall Weapons from +3 to +2.
- Removed Terrify Reduction to War Cry (which didn’t work) from Bladefall Helmet.
- Added 20 Elemental Resist Shred (nonstacking) to War Cry to Bladefall Helmet.
- Changed War Cry Effects to be more Lightning-like with Bladefall Helmet equipped.
- Fixed missing Spirit Requirement on Bladefall’s Bloom (Amulet).
- Added a UI indicator (a buff in the buff bar) that informs the player how their Phantasmal Blades will behave based on their current weapon swap selection (Nova vs Linear).
Hotfix #1
Bugfixes
- Fixed issue which prevented Ashes of Malmouth potion skills from being used properly.
Hotfix #2
Bugfixes
- Fixed issue in which the Mysterious Card was sold at both Revered and Honored reputation at Forgotten Gods faction vendors. It is now only sold at Honored reputation at these vendors (in addition to the Honored Reputation at which it can be purchased elsewhere).
- Amended text descriptions of Augury Cards to note that they are used in Grim Armory recipes, not Augury recipes, making the mod more intuitive when merged elsewhere.
- Increased something from 15% to 33%.
