[Major New Features]

  • Item tooltips now hide detailed information for Components, Augments, and Skills by default, and do not include those factors in tooltip comparisons. By holding ctrl, all of this information is restored and is then included in tooltip comparisons. This was done to dramatically reduce tooltip bloat as much of this information is not required the majority of the time.
  • % Physical Resist has been rebalanced across the entire game. Physical Resist is now available in more restricted gear slots, and in smaller amounts. To compensate, monsters now deal less Physical damage. This change was made to narrow the gap between builds capable of stacking excessive amounts of % Physical Resist and those that struggled to get % Physical Resist in the first place.
  • Most consumables are now organized into one of three categories: Elixirs, Oils, and Tinctures. These categories share cooldowns and you can only benefit from one Elixir, Oil and Tinctures at any given time. The Aether Cluster and Potion of Clarity are notable exceptions.
  • Oil consumables have had their durations increased to 900s. Bonuses updated or redesigned accordingly.

[Tech]

  • Sets now include “style tags” when listing the items that are part of them. This is to distinguish between sets that use lower level items and their mythical versions.
  • Fixed an issue where the exit portal for the Shattered Realm could become unloaded, blocking progress.
  • Fixed an issue where the attacks per second calculation on the character sheet was not including the base player speed modifiers. This was a display issue only and did not affect the DPS calculation.

  • Skill Transmuters can now have alternate item skill modifiers assigned. This is primarily for FX swapping, but it also allows separate values to be set for base and transmuted skills.
  • Added projectileFXOverride to skill modifiers that overrides additionalProjectileFX on skills.
  • Added % Heal over time to buff effects. This effect tics per second.
  • Note: while you will see skillChanceWeight in the skill_modifier template, this is a feature in the upcoming Fangs of Asterkarn expansion.
  • Note: when creating new .anm assets, the aif field now auto-populates with a .aif file reference that matches the animation name. This can still be manually overriden or blanked out.
  • Note: due to changes to Wind Devils, if your mod altered them, you will need to update your dbrs to match retail behavior.

[Art]

  • Blackwater Cockatial, Dreeg’s Evil Eye, Fire Strike and Weapon Pool skills now have new visuals when used with skill modifiers that change their damage (ex. when converted to lightning, they will be visually electric).
  • Stun Jacks now has new visuals with skill modifiers that change its damage type when using the transmuter.
  • Vire’s Might’s modifier, Volcanic Stride, now has new visuals when the base skill has its damage changed by item modifiers.
  • Gazer Man and Miss Gazer Man, the crowning achievements in gazer wear, have gotten a slight post-loyalist pack upgrade.

  • Loot weights have been revised to address some situations where drop rates were lower than intended or where farming certain areas on lower difficulties would result in better drop rates. This also addresses a discrepancy where farming vendors could sometimes be more efficient than killing monsters. As a result, the chance of dropping double rare items, particular in Ultimate/Gladiator difficulty, has been increased.
  • Physical Resist has been moved to the first page of the Character Sheet. % Stun Resist has been moved to page 3, with other crowd control resists.
  • Shields now reduce incoming damage greater than your Shield Block Amount by 100%, up from 70%.
  • Reduced monster % Health Regeneration on Ultimate difficulty.
  • Reduced or removed many sources of unique monster % Resist Reduction debuffs, particularly for non-boss monsters and those that reduce all resists. % Physical Resist Reduction has been reduced more than other damage types.
  • Increased Sunder effects applied by superbosses by 30%.
  • Reduced Callagadra’s ambient damage bonuses versus pets.
  • Fixed an issue where Physical Retaliation damage was ignoring armor, making it consistent with all other sources of Physical damage. Retaliation damage converted to Physical already functioned this way. Physical Retaliation has been increased on various equipment and skills to compensate for this fix.

As expected, v1.2.1’s changes are inspiring some animated discussions, some constructive and some…well…we’d like to remind everyone to always play with the changes before they jump to extreme conclusions that look scary on paper. :laughing:

We’ll be making a number of balance changes in the next build based on internal tests and your feedback:

  • The buff to Sunder will be reverted. There’s a lot of variables at play in this update and I think it’s resulting in some conflicting data. A Sunder buff probably makes sense in the future still, but not in v1.2.1. Perhaps we’ll keep it exclusive to Ascended Mode in Fangs of Asterkarn.
  • Many unique sources of resist reduction applied by monsters are going to be reduced or removed, particularly for non-boss monsters and for debuffs that reduce All resists. % Physical Resist Reduction will see the biggest adjustments. This is part of our continued effort to reduce surprise damage spikes, and to further compensate for the loss of % Physical Resist for players.
  • % Physical Resist will be restored on boots. Yes, your Stoneplates are safe. However, the Formidable prefix will still lose its % Physical Resist bonus as it can be rolled on all armor. To compensate, Stoneplate Greaves will have their % Physical Resist increased to 5% instead.
  • % Physical Resist from mastery skills will be further reduced to further narrow the resistance gap.
  • The current reduction to monster Physical damage will remain unchanged for now while we test with the above changes. It is possible monsters damage may need to be compensated back a bit.

There will of course also be other balance changes and fixes to reported bugs, and some moar quality of life changes. Stay tuned!

Loot weights have been revised to address some situations where drop rates were lower than intended or where farming certain areas on lower difficulties would result in better drop rates. This is a continuation of physical damage tuning. Notable is additional reduction of physical damage dealt by bosses, but also an increase to physical damage dealt by non-boss enemies, from the current build.

Focus was on addressing recent feedback, but primarily upon addressing skill press bloat and the domination of horde builds for pets.

Core (ie. permanent) pets are now more durable, and mastery pets have had their damage significantly increased. This way, you should be able to focus more on maintaining your buffs and debuffs rather than constantly resummoning your core pets.

In addition, many sources of % Speed for pets have been removed. To compensate, % Damage for pets sources have been significantly increased and special ability damage for mastery pets was increased as well. Special pet abilities, ex. Ember Claw, do not benefit from % Speed and were simply an inferior choice to getting as many auto attacks in as possible on as many pets as possible. These changes should help shift things away from stacking pets. While we expect further tuning will be necessary over time, smaller pet stacks should become more viable as an alternative to the current pet meta.

The goal in general is to speed up pet clear times to bring them closer to their non-pet counterparts, but not significantly hurt their performance in high shards, which has always been their niche.

And yes…before everyone flips out…Wind Devils will become permanent baseline… You may now proceed with flipping out.

This build has another significant pass on pets and their itemization. On paper, it’s going to look like pet sets got viciously savaged, but the base pet skills and pet devotions have been buffed to more than compensate for these changes. This is a step forward to reduce reliance on pet sets and to open up more avenues to explore breaking their bonuses, or even skipping them entirely.

The direction remains to improve pet clear times.

There are other changes as well based on feedback, but the focus was on pets.
