[1.1.2.5] [caster] Beginner's/budget acid Sentinel

Introduction

Sentinel (Oathkeeper+Occultist) is one of the classes,that emerged in FG.It is class that gives players multiple working concepts,both as style and also damage type.This guide will show you caster main version and bonus sketches from Malawiglenn Perdition Sentinel.

So what are the goals of main build?

Main build is construct for people,that have some items available in their stash,but don’t know how cool build they can construct with few efforts.Core is Dark One set,the fastest set to be farmed.But if you are newbie,you can use leveling tips to create your own Sentinel build.

This build was inspired from Dark One beginner build ideas by @malawiglenn and also Biting Blades caster from @mad_lee

Skills

Biting blades Our main damage dealer from Seal of Shadows component.It’s a spamming ability scaling with cast speed.

Dreeg Evil Eye It’s used as nuke skill with the transmuter.Our cooldown reduction can push it under 3 seconds.

Bloody pox Used as OA shreddeer,skill bonus from set

Blood of Dreeg Our healing skill,but also provides OA,acid damage and Acid&Physical resistance

Curse of Frality Our main debuff skill,also provide with acid RR

Ascension Good defensive skill,because it has damage absorb and also CC resistances,our CD makes it valuable skill.

Gameplay:

Actually putting Biting Blades on left key is bad idea,better to bind move.Blades will interfere with your movement and is pain.Otherwise is cool looking skill.CoF adn Pox does’t require constant mashing.Use BoD to heal yourself,but not forget to keep it active all time.Ascension is must against heavy hitters.

Gear

Core of course is Dark One set,but also…

Weapon I used this from Bysmiel rep,but huge difference will be made if you have Wendigo Barb green with cast speed suffix.Reason is,that it converts pierce damage from Biting blade skill to acid.

Off-Hand Farmed from Groble enemies,it’s good to have cast speed suffix,the cheapest is of celerity.

Amulet Dreeg reputation,it’s cheap acid amulet,with +1 to all Occultist skills

Rings Eternal rot is common blue,the cast speed and DA makes it extremely useful on this build.Other is farmed from Violoth,the slit boss from act 1

Medal Crafted,recipe from Coven reputation.One of the better acid medals in the game,every stat has some value.

Relic Mediation,low level relic,you can get BP from farming dungeons in elite.It has pretty great acid damage bonus.

Belt Crafted,recipe from Coven rep,it’s pretty decent belt and actually slot does’t have good options,sadly

Pants Use whatever you like,Solael are good,cause their base resistances are bleed&aether,which we can really use.

Boots Stoneplate crafts,just to cover resistances.

Gear priorities and problems

The key is to cap all resistances.Also this build has some DA problems ,biggest help is from outstanding OA shred from skills&scorpion proc.Still I will suggest to have around 2.6-2.7k not to risk some crits,if you don’t have pox activated at the time.Acid multiplier is mainly from devotion&skills,don’t risk cutting other stats to get it.

Key is to get top T3 acid constellations,Abomination and Yugol.Also must are Murmur for acid RR and something for flat,my choice is Revenant.Devotion order can be used for leveling purposes,also

Leveling Guide

This is just one of the many ways to level Sentinel.My idea is to use Aegis of Thorns as damage dealer,and Righteous Fervor in between attacks.

*notes change upper right level of difficulty in GT links.Also for some reason GT has tendency to lose some of my items from links

1-10

Start with Oatkeeper and put some points in Aegis skill,it requires shield.Put few more points in mastery to unlock Aegis of thorns skill transmuter.One point in Vire’s might for easy and early movement skill.Devotions-start with green and Bat,bind it to skill with low cooldown,when you unlock it.

10-30

At 10 unlock Occultist mastery,push it to get Vulnerability.At mean time take few more ranks in Aegis,maybe virtue for early OA bonus.Later unlock and put points in Blood of Dreeg.Around level 20 unlock Righteous Fervor.It will deal damage,until Aegis is on CD.It stacks with Attack speed.Devotions-Sailor’s guide movement speed bonus is so good early on,it will improve run speed for faster leveling.

30-50

Start to work OK mastery to the bottom.There lines real great skills.Path of the three is exclusive skill,that will give you acid damage and also will reduce CD for Aegis and other skills.Guardian of Empyrion with Scion of Dreeg transmuter will give you acid RR with Celestial Presence,so take it.Put more points in already taken skills.You can use Smite as skill if you rely heavy on RF as attack.

We can put our end game mastery points.Aspect of guardian greatly increase acid&physical resistances.Also Meditation can be used now as relic.Many faction items are available.Also at 70 you can use armor augments to cover resistances.Devil’s crossing revered reputation gives you also Survivor ingenuity as jewels augments.

70+

Decide which build,you want to follow and roll Legendary will start to drop for you,also faction and MI items.

Faction selections:
Side with Outcast and MUST with Barrowholm.Kymon or Order is irrelevant.Dreeg is recommended faction.

Yes,I remember your build was good and it was interested use of Dark One set.That set does’t have Oathkeeper support,but is seems like it’s tailored fo it.And ofc Virtue energy regen can help spam Biting blades.

Thanks,will correct that,they don’t stack.Arrow key icon,you can definitely use that.

@Lyrrados At 75 you can use Seal of Shadows component,so you can switch at that time if you want.Also at that point you can have all or almost all devotion procs.

I have one question though: Why Revenant not Manticore? Is it for 6% ADctH and cast speed? Is acid/poison damage from Manticore proc negligible?

All stats of Revenant are useful,cast speed and AdctH in particular.I am not fan of Manticore proc,on my build I can’t really proc it effectively.On DW build I can attach it to whirling death,here is little complicated.

Acid modifier is enough,Manticore in current state is not worth it.

Yes it’s biting blades.When I change some details,I may disturb it,cause blades were put in original GT.

Just checking database.You need weapon with acid damage and cast speed.

Mythical Plaguebearer of Dreeg is probably the best option.

I found this weapon looking pretty interesting Mythical Scion of Bitter Winds vit to acid conversion. Not even sure if its an upgrade from faction weapon but it looks kinda cool.

I saw it too.Conversion,cast speed and RR proc.But it deals mixed cold/acid damage and also not flat.

I think its upgrade,but not as good as Dreeg.

I have neither I do have Mythical Scion of Noxious Wounds but it doesn’t seem suited for the build.

Since Mala dropped in, do you suggest continuing with the Acid Sentinel or nudge it towards Acid Retal? I just dressed the lady in budget gear today.

Depends on what you wanna do and how you wanna play.

“My” retal sentinel build “the blue ageis build” is not primarly retaliation but uses retal only to get high aegis damage. The idea of that build was to make a build that easy can farm say Dark One set and other stuff so that one can transition into a build like this one that Nery did. Pure acid retal builds require much hard to get items and will not be as sturdy as a retal warlord.
