Grim Dawn's Modding Tools + User-Generated Tutorials to Get Started

Welcome to the Grim Dawn Modding Section.

This is the place to post your tutorials, or ask questions when you get stuck.

The best place to get started is with the Modding Tools Guide, which comes in the game’s installation folder, but can also be downloaded from the game guide. That is where you can also download the latest version of the Modding Tutorial.

Modding can be a very rewarding, but also challenging, experience. It is a stepping stone for many a professional game developer. But that doesn’t mean it will all be easy. The tools at your disposal are very powerful, but generally the more powerful the tools, the less intuitive they may be. The best advice we can give to any fledgling modder is to start at the basics, reverse-engineer what’s already in the game (try dismantling the Modding Tutorial that’s included) and work your way up. Nobody makes a new playable class on the first day.

Most importantly though, do not be discouraged. Be prepared to fail. Expect your first effort to suck. But that’s how any creative endeavor begins. Keep working at it and before you know it, you will be a master.

We look forward to seeing what the community creates!
